Strength:
Everything and anything connects to it. Awesome remote.
Weakness:
The setup for special connections is not intuitive. No center output for TV input connections (only outputs center channel to speaker connections). I purchased this unit to basically provide a center for connecting all of my audio and video devices. I've been impressed by the types of connections and number of connections this unit has for the price. The instruction manual on setup is a little shy of details, and the setup is very specific, not allowing anything other than what Pioneer expected it to do. But, the unit has performed extremely well. I especially enjoy the Midnight audio mode (where it's like a "loudness" setting, but limits the lowest bass to not disturb neighbors) It's hard to find any other units like this with all the features for the same price. |

Strength:
Easy, logical setup, you can specify x-over freq. for the sub/sat at 100/150/180hz, compact, cheap, nice remote, awesome stereo peformance.
Weakness:
Rather weak when driving all chanels, especially the center and surrond channels, Dialogue doesn't seem to be locked with the center speaker, surround speakers only sound sparingly, it seems like the DD and DTS decoding isnot up to snuff. Nice price, user friendly and clean but rather weak sound in surround mode. Stereo performance is awesome though but I bought this thing for Home theater and power is really lacking to drive all 5 channels at once. I ended returning it to Costco and going with the Kenwood Vr 507, which has full bandwidth-rated power across all channels, plus decoding is really awesome with the Kenwood. The Pioneer is really easy to set-up though, if only it has a little more zip. Similar Products Used: Kenwood VR 507 |

Weakness:
Power level poor.I could not hear the sound in the "b" speaker system without cranking up the power so high the "a" system was too loud. Pioneer custom service was rude and not very helpfull.
