Strength:
Value, DSP Modes for stereo sources, power, looks, 96khz 24bit audio, adjustable crossover settings for each speaker depending on size, adjustable room size, adjustable level for each speaker! DTS DOLBY PROLOGIC II
Weakness:
no universal remote I am running this with the Onkyo HT500 speakers and the sound is excellent. This thing really delivers with both movies and music. I am very impressed. Just see the review at CNET for the VSX-711, they are functionally the same, they gave it a recommended going against $400+ units. |

Strength:
NICE SEPARATION. GOOD SURROUND WITH DTS DECODER AND DTS DECODED DVDS.WHEN I CONNECTED THE S-VIDEO W/ MONSTER CABLE AND PLUG IT INTO THE RECEIVER TO THE MONITOR IT REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN PICTURE QUALITY. MONSTER COAXIAL CABLE HELPED SURROUND VEIL OVER LISTENER.
Weakness:
SMALL AND HORRIBLE REMOTE. NO ONSCREEN DISPLAY. NO A-B SPEAKER CONTROL. I HAVE A SONY 62" PROJECTION T.V. W/ BOSE AM 15 SPEAKERS. RECENTLY, MY WIFE PURCHASED THIS A/V RECEIVER FOR ME, AN TO MY AMASSEMENT THE DTS WORKS WELL. I HAD TO READ THE MANUEL TWICE, BUT AFTER I GOT THE HANG OF IT I WAS SATISFIED. GOOD SOUND QUALITY, ESPECIALLY IN D.T.S. MODE. CHICKEN RUN, AND JURASSIC PARK REALLY COMES TO LIFE IN REAR SURROUNDS. |
