Strength:
-Build quality -Clean, smooth sound -Good power -They don't run hot
Weakness:
none, as the receiver is still being broken in Super clean sound receiver, sweet!!! Although rated only 75w/5 channel < 0.09% THD, the receiver sounds really good and beautiful. I was going to get the Marantz 7300 (thinking NAD T762 as well, but their build quality is seriously in question...), but after listening to this, I changed my mind. Its clean and smooth, and it sound transparent, very nice. I matched it with B&W CM4, they are amazing. I played Enya and Fourplay and I am shocked to find out that I have been missing a lot of sound until this receiver. Similar Products Used: Rotel 930, NAD760,Marantz6200 |

Strength:
Price, quality, build, straighforward operation, has everything a good amp needs! And of course sounds great in combination with my B&W cdm7NT, cdm cnt center. Will even sound better if i upgrade my dvd player (currently old sony=>any suggestions for 400/$800??) I just bought this unit and the speakers, so it still needs some breakin time, but they already sound great after listening for 100 hours... Doesn not have all the nifty and extensive features the yamaha and the sony have, but those are options i never used anyway) Yamaha manual is like 300 poages, who reads that??) Rotel manual could be a little more extensive. THis amp is software upgradable so no worries. It can even be controller through rj45 port with pc!! Nothing about this is stated in the manual.
Weakness:
Remote is a little confusing. Manual it a little thin. Setup was easy and straightforward. Manual is a little thin. This unit has all the features you need, but most importantly: it sounds great. And for this price it is a bargain! Similar Products Used: Yamaha 2095, sony str da 50es B&W cdm7se, cdm1se rears, cdm cnt center. marantz cd63 ki, sony dvps 7700. |

Strength:
1.Sound 2.Price
Weakness:
1.Remote Macro Function-Must pull down cover to access macro button (lame). 2.Redirect function does not work (awaiting e-mail response). First, I am no pro just looking to upgrade to digital. The Integra 8.2 I had had some problems and for the 1700 I spent on it had to send it back to Onkyo. I received both the RSX-1055 and a Odyssey Stratos amp about two weeks ago. Receiver sounds fantastic. Big improvement over old sony (of coarse) and considerably better than the Integra 8.2 (110 watts, I dodn't think so). Music and HT sound great. Good imaging on music. Separate amp has yet to sound significantly better than the RSX. Testament to how good the receiver is. Have 30 days to decide about the amp. Sent e-mail about the redirect feature not working, will see what happens.Do not have a sub so not sure about the internal cross-over as mentioned below. Gave 4 stars overall since the redirect is not functioning and remote has some issues. 5 stars for both value and overall if not for these two issues. Strength:
Ease of use Sound quality Very good backlit remote Plenty of inputs/outputs DPLII, DTS, Neo6, and other DSP
Weakness:
No phone (turntable) preamp (but can be used with an external preamp) No headphone jack (but not a problem -- my CD play has a headphone jack) I picked the RSX-1055 (year 2002 model) after extensive research and consideration of other brands. It replaces a 10-yr old Yamaha DSP A1000. It is has all the features and inputs needed. To me, set up was quick and easy, and the user manual is well written with all features accurately described. Great sound, cool design, ease of use makes this receiver a winner. Similar Products Used: Yamaha Also considered Denon and Marantz |

Strength:
Great imagining. I heard details in music and movies that I never heard with my 3802. I like the remote, but I will still use my Pronto. Great company support.
Weakness:
Out of box there were some minor issues, these are all solved now with firmware upgrades Great receiver. Has some bugs, but Rotel is quickly putting out free firmware upgrades to solve these issues Similar Products Used: Denon 3200, 2802, and 3802 |

Strength:
Good sound. Powerfull amplifier. Some neat setup options.
Weakness:
Setup options have bugs. Poor Quality control! Users' manual also doesn't correspond with the shipping unit 100%. Good product. But buggy! Beware before buying it. It has a neat feature that redirects the front speaker output to Surround Back. And that doesn't work. Internal Cross over doesn't work. Setup menu has bugs--test tone menu decides to be inactive whenever it wants to. The list goes on. You can supposedly get an update to fix it. But on a brand new product with such serious flaws??? I will be very cautious. Returned mine. Similar Products Used: Yamaha, Kenwood, Sony |

Strength:
Quiet background, tight bass, great midrange and smooth highs. Yup, yup, yup...this is a great musical receiver that also happens to do a great job with movies. The 75w/ch amps outperform the Denon 4802 and the Elite 47TX. Soundstaging is very good for a receiver.
Weakness:
My only complaint so far is with the remote. Changing from DD to DTS requires scrolling through all modes, it would be nice for the remote to duplicate the surround mode buttons on the front panel. This is actually a 2002 model year unit and is the replacement for the highly regarded RSX-972. This unit delivers what few other A/V receivers can, very good performance with music. The unit offers all the latest surround processing modes including DD, DPLII, and DTS. It also offers HDCD processing. 2 Component, and 5 S-video, and coaxial inputs are available and muti-channel audio inputs and outputs. Software is upgradeable. Unit comes with a learning remote. Similar Products Used: Auditioned B&K 307, various units from Denon, Elite, Yamaha, JVC and Onkyo. This unit easily was better to my ears. |
