great features and construction for $645. composite to s-video switching. also video and audio paths are kept separate so when you listen to a cd, you can't view other video sources like you can with non-ES sony receivers. the remote is illuminated. has all the dsp modes and 7x110 watts from 20-20khz. punchy sound w/ alot of power. you can't beat this receiver for the money.

the sound fields aren't retained when you switch sources (i.e., if i'm using dts neo:music then switch to dvd, it won't auto switch to the last sound field you used when watching dvds such as dolby digital ex. the older sony receivers can do this but since i haven't learned to use this receiver yet, maybe there's a way to program it.

i paid $690 delivered ($645 + $45 shipping) for the da4es. i replaced my old str-de725 receiver with this unit. the amplifier is excellent, clean, bright and punchy. there are plenty of inputs and all the dsp modes are there. the remote is decent though it can not program all the gear i have in my home theater. i haven't learned how to use this receiver yet so a future review will be submitted. authorizedelectronics is an excellent place to buy receivers, cheap, fast delivery and super friendly sales staff.
