I'm sold on the 50ES but have only found the receiver priced at the retail price of $1000. Where can I buy this receiver for $649-$700? |

Can someone share a few links to people who are selling this receiver at good prices? |

I received the 50ES yesterday and am impressed with th sound quality as compared to my prior Kenwood. I purchased the unit from Crutchfield and was told I received the "new" version of the remote. The "new" remote now turns on my Sony television no matter which input I select for the receiver including tuner and CD. I certainly hope Sony fixes this "feature" which is totally annoying. I give the reciver a 5 star rating and the remote 2 stars. |

I recieved my repaired remote RMTP501 from Sony. It took them only a couple of days to to fix using what they call an upgrade kit. So far the brightness is extremely brighter, time will tell if the AA batteries and the lithium batttery also hold up and retain memory backup. |

I listened to the 50ES a while back and have been seriously looking at buying it. It is an excellent reciever but the price is a little high. If i could find it for 650-700 dollars that would be great. Please e-mail with info where I could find these prices. |

After reading all of the great reviews of the 50ES, I decided to purchase one in January. I received the unit about a month later, and immediately noticed that it had a serious balance problem. So, I sent it back to my retailer and was placed on the waiting list for a replacement. Finally, I received my replacement today. I plugged it in, hooked it up, and was rewarded with a flashing "PROTECTOR (FAN)" message on the 50ES's display. Thinking it was maybe a short circuit, I disconnected everything, unplugged the unit, and powered it up again. Again, the "PROTECTOR (FAN)" message welcomed me. I called Sony service, and they suggested unplugging the unit for 1 1/2 hours and trying again. Yeah, right. Same problem. |

Great Receiver! However, I can't operate my Harman/Kardon CD player with this receiver's remote. I don't understand why Sony put such few CD manufacturers on their remote code. Has anyone have problem as mine? |

The 50es is presenty on back order. The reason I am told is that they will be replacing the remote during this production run and the next shipment will have the new remote. 2 problems are battery dies to fast and cant see it in the light. I listened and enjoyed but no 6 channel input which is not good in a receiver in this price range. Also difficult to control sub volume. But does sound good and looks a lot nicer then the yamaha 995. |

Just to add to the list...I got my remote back from Sony; don't bother. They replaced a single IC which only changes the display timeout and fixed the annoying habit of turning on your TV for audio only sources....but the primary problem remains - you get only a few days out of your remote, that is a few days of squinting to see your remote if you can get the lighting just right...:)Overall I'm really disappointed that Sony put out such a terrible remote on their flagship product...I've got a couple of days to send the unit back and after this remote fiasco...It might just find it's way back to sony. |
