Strength:
None!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weakness:
Will not function!!!!! This product sucks! Bought it for my daughter a few years back (cannot remember exact date) from Best Buy. Worked for a month, then the protect mode switches on after a few seconds and the thing will not operate! Don't buy one!!! This is the first time I've had to express my thoughts on this product. Thank you. |

This review is for the STR-D311. It's a basic Stereo receiver with plenty of inputs and outputs for a living room A/V system. Purchased new for $115 at Brandsmart/Florida in 1995 I thought it was a great buy. A more sensative FM section, ability to drive 2 sets of speakers at the same time, Stereo/Mono switch for the amplifier, and better phono pre amp would make it even better. This one sees lots of use and hasn't had a single problem. |

Strength:
Simple, easy to use
Weakness:
two video inputs, remote lacks video controls. This is a "Plain Jane," basic A/V receiver. There is no Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound, 5.1, AC-3, optical inputs, etc. Similar Products Used: Sony GA7ES |

The STR-DE310 promises little at $160 (J&R's price in NYC), and it delivers on that promise. I am particularly disappointed with the tuner - it barely seems to work - but overall sound is not very good from any input source. |

This is actually a review if the Sony STR-D311. It's a basic 70Wx2 stereo receiver with remote. Mine cost $150 at Soundtrack. Well, it sounds ok and is easy enough to use, when it is working that is. Mine totally stopped working after about a year (not long after the warranty expired). I can not reccomend a reciever that will not last barley over a year, no matter how cheap. My Sony minisystem's 3 CD changer also completley stopped working. I feel that there must be better choices for the money than Sony products, and I will not buy anything made by Sony in the future. |

This review is for the STR-D311, which is similar. I picked it up for around $160 in 1995, I think. It is used nearly daily and it has performed flawlessly as a stereo in a bedroom. I've attached a Sony CD Player and Sony VCR and everything works and sounds quite well. It's design is compact and it has many features - presets, inputs & outputs, remote control. It is a fine entry level stereo receiver. |

Strength:
Powerful w/ one set of towers. puts out good bass. good remote system.
Weakness:
Puts out ok bass but could be better. Treble is weak. Good reciever for the money. If you are not blowing some major speakers and dont push the power these are for you. the treble is weak but will respond when up high. Good thing there is a bass boost because without it, it cant put out much at all. in bass that is. Similar Products Used: Kenwood, JBL, Creative systems, CR, |

Strength:
Reliability, Full System Remote, Fairly Powerfull, Good Sound
Weakness:
Can't Drive 2 sets of speakers, Poor Speaker Terminals, No Tone bypass button This is another review for the strd-311, which has performed flawlessly since december 1994. Decent sound, better than the kenwood 3020se, as it has a weightier less boomy bass, although slightly less clear treble. It is rated as 60x2 watts RMS into 8ohms, but has spent much of its life hammering into ohms, which could explain a dodgy sounding right channel.Anyway, it cost be about $240 equiv.from the UK and im still happy with it. i use it with a sony cdp-597 CD playr which originated from 1991, so i think i should upgrade these both soon! But very good buys.
