Weakness:
none. This was my first home entertainement system. Like it a lot. NIce sound. Lot's of power. Used it for movies, music and karaoke and did the job for all. For a first home entertainement system, very nice. |

Strength:
price, power, bass boost
Weakness:
runs very hot, started to hear crackling Let me start by saying this is not a dolby digital reciever and therefore should only be rated as a dolby pro logic reciever. Back in its era this was a decent reciever especially for its price. It delivers 100w to each channel and can put out some good bass. The system does run very hot when ran for longer than 5 hours. I have also just recently heard some crackling from fronts/rears but what more can i expect from a three year old piece of electronics. This mid-range Pro-Logic receiver served me well before I moved to Dolby Digital and DTS. It has all the goodies for a receiver of its category (Pro_logic, DSP, surround effects, bass boost). All these features were fine for a pre-digital receiver, but this reciver lacked some features that were already standard in similar receivers: no real sub-woofer output, hissing noises in pro-logic mode and ocassional crackling noises in the rear surround speakers also on Pro-Logic mode. Much better ourput on Stereo mode than on surround Pro-Logic.Good for the price and for its period; totally obsolete by 1999 standards. |
