Strength:
A very good reciever for someone starting to build thier system, like me.
Weakness:
once you get more components, you might need more inputs. I'm 13 and got this reciever for Christmas and i love it! |

Strength:
the de535 is an exalent reciver for its price.the remote is one of the best parts.and when more sony products are added like cd playes and dvds its exalent. theres plenty of power in all 6 channels altho an amp is still requied for better performance with the sub for people with average pay this is an exalent av amp to start of a theater. i started of hateing sony for there other cheap pore performance equipment but now i am starting to like them as much as pioneer
Weakness:
no magger problems could do with a few more inputs and the sub out put only works on dvd mode this means i have to keep swaping the plug every time i want to listen to music with the sub very good Similar Products Used: marantz and kenwood recivers |

The STR-DE535 setup was straight forward and easy. The supplied remote is a bit too complex for most users. The remote is fully featured, but the menu system is very easy to get lost in. The remote locked on to my Sony VCR when I first turned it on, thinking that it was the receiver, and it took some work to clear it and get it to recognize the receiver. The sound fields sound fantastic, with many options available. The most amazing is the Cinema studio sound, which recreates a movie theater enviornment. I found this receiver to be a good value for the money. The fact that it lacks DTS is not a problem if your DVD and other components can access the 6 supplied inputs. |

Strength:
Excellent remote control, good power, nice looks, and features.
Weakness:
Sound could be more clear. For the price, this receiver is a good deal. However, you should consider the future needs of your home theatre system. Questions like how many components you will have, how many speakers you will have, and what quality of sound you will require, should all be considered when deciding to purchase this or any other HT receiver. Similar Products Used: Onkyo, Nakamichi, Pioneer. |

Strength:
This receiver puts out great bass and surround for a small price.
Weakness:
It doesn't have enough inputs This receiver is a great buy for the money; it has great bass output and the Sony 2-way remote. The only problem i have with it is the lack of inputs. It was only $250 at Circuit City and they threw in 2 rear channel speakers and a center channel as well. |

Weakness:
Insufficient inputs Good honest entry level product. Excellent remote which scans other components (Picked up my VCR without asking me!). |
