LINEAR POWER FAN

Starts getting muddy at 40-50 watts, distorting 50-60 watts and clips at 75 tripping the breakers on protected tweets at less than 50% output. When you buy a LOUD SPEAKER you need a REAL 100 watt RMS power to enjoy. It is ok if your good stuff died in a pinch maybe or maybe I'd rather just turn off the music and wait until I can purchase something average at least. If you like on board laptop computer speakers to listen to your music you will really enjoy this product. My sound bar for my TV blows the sound quality at any usable sound enjoyment listing level. |

Honest I.m not sure when I bought this thing, but i,m sure I,ve owned it 12 to 13 years anyway I'm looking to replace this perfectly good reciever with an onkyo thats more up to date. love costco, this receiver has worked great out of the box and still does the job now. I must say that my 825 hummmmmmms a bit when you first turn it on but I havent turned it off in 3 months. Its been a good one and will not be quickly replaced if the onk. doesent give me a noticible difference. |

I have had this reciever for 10 years and repaired it once at about the five year point and it has worked flaulesly since. I had it in my fifth wheel trailer for those first five years and was told the moisture from propaine heat and being against the outside wall was the cause of the damage. I have pound the hell out of this thing and it just keeps ticking, great remote nice sound fields and good looks, i love this thing and hope it lasts for ever. Only one problem is i have a blu ray now and it isn't exactly up to par for that thing. |

I have this receiver for 3 years by now and I have to say it's one of the best receivers from Sony. I had tested some others Sony receivers with other decoders like DTS but this one being only Dolby Digital surpase them all. The difference on a good quality sound enviroment of a bad one are the speakers you use on it and the acoustic on the room. |

Strength:
Very nice remote. Accurate speaker setup if your room has good acoustics. Sound fields are amazing! Individual equalizer and surround settings to each sound source and tuner preset. Last and definetly the least, price!
Weakness:
Equalizer allows only one frequency to be set in each of treble, mid range, and bass. Can't define your own sound field. No S-Video After reading some of the negative reviews here, it seems like I'm one of the lucky few to have bought an open box and not had any problems with it. This is a great system. Lot of bang for the buck. I have a DVD and CD player connected to it via optical, a Rega P3 turntable, and Bose AM10 speakers. Great sound quality from all the sources throughout the spectrum. Definetly one of the best buys I have ever made. |

everything, why wont Sony re-call this piece of junk and give credit towards something that actually works. Please dont waste your hard earned money. This unit has been repaired twice, which is frustrating since I only use it maybe 2-3 times a month. After it had broken down for the third time, I dropped it off at the dumpster on my way to purchase the HK-AVR320. Similar Products Used: AR,Yamaha,Kenwood |

Strength:
Great value for the first year.
Weakness:
Extremely flakey, wish I had never bought a Sony product. This reciever was great for the first year. Then sometimes it would seem to "mute" itself and not make a peep again until I turned it off and on. Then it did this more often. Then it would occasionally blast extremely loud noise and not stop until I turned it off. This got more frequent, and happens no matter what source I''m using: I''ve had it occur with CD, DVD, and Radio. I called Sony, they instisted they had never ever heard of this problem not even once nor did they want me to send them links to reviewers who had the same problem (insert head into sand) nor of course would they fix it unless I paid huge money. My Sony S530D DVD player also crapped out after one year, and so did my CD player (but they did fix the CD player). DON''T BUY SONY!!! |

I have had this receiver for about 3 years and the only trouble I have had out of it has been sound going out when in A+B speaker mode. No protection mode that I''ve experienced. This is not the best receiver out there, but it''s certainly not the worst. For the money I would buy it again. |

All 3 quit I thought that Sony was a great brand, wrong. Please don,t get mad at me here but this was the worst reveiver I have ever owned. What happened to Sony??? Out of the box the sub output was humming badly. The second one dropped channels and the last one would just quit. These weren't open box but brand new at Circuit City. I read some reviews of Yamaha and it sounded like they were reliable. After 1 year the Yamaha has been perfect. Sony quality control needs to get their hands dirty and put in some overtime! 100wx5 of clean sound , great price , excellent surround
Weakness:
needed help carrying it upstairs , too loud for my dorm why pay $ 1000. when you can have it all for less than $ 300.?? Some people have $$ to burn and want status (Flo ? ), while others are satisfied with great sound at a bargain. Oh sure the denons , yamahas and marantz's might have thicker metal casings and thicker wire - they still both plug into the wall right ?? This unit makes my Go-Go c.d.'s shine !!! I tried the denon , yamaha and marantz but stayed with the sony !! More c.d.'s for me !! Similar Products Used: denon 3300 , marantz 7000 , yamaha rx-v995 |
