Strength:
21 years on and this unit is still running strong. Only really used for music with a CD player input and phono input. How cool is that? No real need to replace it. Weakness:
Surround sound is only so so. Price Paid: long forgotten!
Purchased: New
Model Year: 1998

Strength:
stands the test of 5 years and still going
Weakness:
i can't really say I can truly say this is a great reciver. Puts out great power if needed, yeah it may overload and shutoff but thats just a safety device so you won't fry your unit. you can always put a fan pointed at it when playing it extremely loud to keep air flow and won't shut off. i've had my unit for 5 years and it plays like new. Technics puts out great equipment, from technics 1200's to recivers. |

Strength:
good paper weight
Weakness:
expensive paper weight Crappy. I too thought it was a decent reciever when I got it, but now that I have a need for more inputs (including component) and have realized how crappy Pro Logic is compared to Digital Logic, I wish I hadn''t wasted the money. Basically, everything on this device is outdated. I will definately move onto Yamaha. |

I used this amplifier/receiver for less than a year and all the audio-in's have gotten the one after the other a nasty, dampened sound. Maybe my pc sound-cards(2) send too much power to the in's, but i never had this with Sony or Pioneer equipment. The dolby pro logic sux too. Don't buy it, if you wanna enjoy your ears for years. Thinking about a Yamaha amplifier for the next buy, got good reviews for almost all products. |

Strength:
Phat Bass Levels with standard speakers
Weakness:
None I have found. This Amp with supplied surround sound speakers is phat the high and low levels are amazing. I run a cd, a minidisc, my dvd, and my tv thru this amp and they all sound superb. The surround sound on DVD's is so good, its unbelievable. I heartily recommend this amp to anyone. This cost me £140 GBP complete with all five speakers, what a bargain. |

Strength:
Lots of inputs
Weakness:
Failures over time It started off being the best thing since sliced bread, then slowly the inputs have failed. The wiring is confusing at times and the Pro-Logic can be VERY bad. Avoid it if you can... I payed £250 (around $400) for mine less than 18 months ago and it's already for the scrap heap. I expected better! |

Strength:
I found this receiver to be a great value for my third receiver purchase. Puts out huge sound hooked up to my Technics speakers in 2 channel stereo. Has plenty of inputs and outputs including DVD audio. Has Dolby ProLogic and 3 Stereo.
Weakness:
No Ac-3 or DTS, but these formats didn't become mainstream until after I purchased this receiver. No subwoofer channel. A great value for anyone building their first system. Similar Products Used: Old school Panasonic shelf system. |
