Strength:
Works well until warranty is out.
Weakness:
Doesn't work long after warranty is out! Worked well at lower volumes for the entire warranty. One month out of warranty it overheated. Only used casually and not pushed. Panasonic refused to provide parts and me pay labor on a repair that cost more than half the new cost. Replaced with Onkyo. Similar Products Used: Onkyo TXDS656 |

I own a technics reciever,equilizer,5-disc changer and dual tape deck and the new 3-way tower speakers,Panasonic tv and vcr. i will never buy any other brand again. I have never had a lick of trouble with any of my equipment. I love the power and bass, the high and mids, the features are perfect. I would recommend this brand to anyone who loves clean deep bass realistic mids and loud clean highs. Everyone who heres and sees my sterio wants it. Thanks to technics i am a very satisfied owner and dedicated.Technics is everything they say they are and more. They are a 20 on my 1 to 10 point scale. the 5 star is a 10 on the overall rating. Keep up the good work TECHNICS. |

I own an EX300 dolby surround Technics reciever, Its the lower model but for the price it an unbelievable reciever, I packaged a TR575 dual tape player and the five disc changer without pitch control, you couldn't get a better package for the money, I also have the SB_CR77 3-way tower speakers 12x4x2, they sound wonderful their realy impresive with home enternainment quality sound my surround is pretty standard as aslo my center speaker I wouldn't change brands for no one even if it was free i would sell it and bye technics I've never herd such sound quality in all my life. The bass reflex system in the reciever has given over welming results, I'm the guy you here coming down the street in my car booming away with my subs and I still have never herd the clear perfection of bass that come from technics recievers. I like to have all my equipment the same but I can't find out to get a powered subwoofer built by specific Technics brand if any one knows how please e-mail me thanx. |

I just picked up an AX610 a couple of days ago and am absolutely in love with it! For a lower class of receiver it has great lows without compromising mids and highs too much. Afterall with this kinda power (at 4 ohms it's putting 200 wpc through my cerwin vega's). The highs are kinda lifeless (epsecially at 4 ohms), I paired it up with a set of infinity's (8ohms) and got a little better response.I would definitely recommend this receiver to anybody with a medium sized budget (retails around $259) but your best bet is to try best buy (preopened you get a %20 discount). |

I TRIED A LOT OF RECEIVES BUT TECHNICS IS THE ABOUT THE ONLY ONE WHICH REALLY PUTS OUT THE BEST SOUND. THIS RECEIVER RETAILS FOR ABOUT $379 PUTS OUT ABOTU 120 WATTS PER CHANNEL. IT IS A DOLBY PRO-LOGIC RECEIVER. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TECHNICS AND THE OTHER BRANDS IF THE LEVEL OF THE BASS BOOST. IT IS ABOUT 10 DB PLUS ANOTHER 9 DB THROUGH THE LOUNDNESS CONTROL AT 50 HZ. THIS EXTRA BASS ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR SEPARATE EQUILIZERS WHICH DISTORT THE SOUND AND SOMETIMES MAKES IT MUDDY NOT AS EXCITING. ANYWAY ALL THE OTHER RECIEVERS JUST TO NAME A FEW, PIONEER, YAMAHA, KENWOOD, JVC, SUPPLY A BASS BOOST OF ONLY 6 TO 8 DB. AND IN MOST CASES DON'T EVEN PROVIDE A LOUNDESS BUTTON. MY MUSIC IS POP, CLASSICAL, AND INDIAN MUSIC. INDIAN MUSIC AS EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS IS ABOUT THE WORST RECORDING. TECHNICS HELPS TO BALANCE THE OVERALL RANGE SO THAT THERE IS BASS AS WELL AS TREBLE AT LOW VOLUME WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. TECHNICS UNLIKE OTHER RECEIVERS ALSO CONNECTS THE SPEAKERS IN PARALLEL WHEN HOOKING FOUR SPEAKERS. I RECOMMEND THIS RECEIVER TO ANYONE WHO THINKS THERE SPEAKERS ARE BASS SHY. MOST OF THE TIME ITS THE RECEIVERS INADEQUATE BASS BOOST. I RECOMMEND THIS RECEIVER HIGHLY TO ANYONE. BESIDES MOST RETAIL STORES PROVIDE 30 DAYS REFUND POLICY. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT RETURN IT YOU CAN'T GO WRONG! |

Well, I finally got this receiver after struggling with a Pioneer and a Sony. What convinced me about this one? Dolby Digital ready, i.e, 6 discrete channels. Equal power to all channels; 100 W in sorround mode and 120 W in stereo mode. It has a good set of soundfields to choose from. It has a tape monitor, which for me is a must. (Many receivers lack one.) Good power. I've tested it with different styles of music and it delivers great. (But I discovered I need better speakers now.) Now, what I don't like about it. A bad remote control. They should redesign it really. And the ergonomics. The appearance of other receivers is a lot more appealing. The technics has a big annoying, orange lighted button, which is suppose to be a help button. This is the most stupid thing they could add to it. Useless and ugly. This is a feature that is worth eliminating in future models.Anyway, I am happier with this receiver than with the pioneer, and the sony, although I paid 60 dollars more for it. I just tried to get the most features and sound for my money. Now, if you are lucky enough that you are able to spend all the money you want in a receiver, go for it and get something better than this. |

Poor workmanship. Front lights started blinking and then burned out completely after only 1 year of very light adult use. The reset light then proceeded to blink and needed to continually be reset. After 2 years the unit stopped working altogeather. As in the past, Technics service and warranty support is terrible. This is my 2nd. bad experience with Technics products, and I will not purchase a third...... |
