Strength:

High power, clarity, multiple DSP modes, features

Weakness:

Remote control too busy and complicated heavy stuff

I was looking for a Integrated amplifier, listened to a lot of brands (yamaha-new models), Krell, Onkyo 508, Nakamichi RE 10 and others...I just wanted a integrated Amp to dive my Infinitys Reference standard 5b those are 4 ohms and very power hungry so I wanted around 100 W RMS and was going to buy a new model Yamaha but, found this "old" model in clearance new in box, European version 110W CH main, 100 Centers and 45 rears. Price was just 450 us and I am blown away by this baby, it is soo heavy and clean my Infinitys sound better with this set up than with the yamaha mx1000 (though more powerful is no match for clarity).
I just wanted toi use the fronts but I got carried away and put my old infinitys RS2000 as rears and fronts and wow the dsp modes are great, tough the remote control is very complicated and weird..it sounds even better than my old sigma drive Kenwood. If you can find one buy it! is that good and of course it doesnt have dts and dolby PL but I already have a cambridge soundworks decoder and speaker system so I dont need those.
So..if you want to listen to music look no further

Strength:

Good clean sound, lots of power.

Weakness:

The remote.

Like the receiver a lot, great value. Makes my JBL S 310 speakers sound real sweet. Drives hard and stays cool.

Hate the remote, but for potential buyers, don't let this discorage you. Buy the Radio Shack 6-in-one Universal Remote, I got it on sale for $29.95. I was amazed at the following this product has, it can be programmed to do anything the Yamaha remote can do, and replace all your other remotes. The Radio Shack manual that comes with it doesn't even begin to explain the capabilities of the unit, there is a website at www.remotecentral.com that is extremely useful, and can provide links to advanced programming codes specific to your equipment.

I do not have any affiliation with Radio Shack.
