Strength:
Correct adjustment for direct control of delay time
Weakness:
doesn't include internal 6.1 rear surround channel amplification This Robert character below just blew me away. Normally I don't review a product to correct misinformation, but this was a must. |

Strength:
Power, bass slam.
Weakness:
No dedicated DVD coaxial input, though you can manually configure one. This is really just a criticism of Roberts slating of this amp because of the room size calibration settings. Sorry Robert, this is not a good enough reason for giving the product such a low score. Similar Products Used: Lots of Denon kit. |

Strength:
Looks...ease of use...Yamaha name...clean sound without background "annoyances"...connections on back panel...reliability...decoding...remote control.
Weakness:
None whatsoever. My choice of the Yamaha RX V1000 is my entry into the Dolby Digital realm. Before this, I was using a Yamaha RX V1070 Pro Logic receiver that is still performing flawlessly after several years of use. My only desire is to play Dolby Digital/ProLogic material through this unit and so far it has performed beyond my expectations. The sound is clean without any background hiss and noise whatsoever. From what I've heard so far...the performance of my RX V1000 is an improvement over my RX V1070. The separation of all channels in the Dolby Digital mode is very, very impressive. The remote is easy to use and functional. I have a Sony DVP S7000 and a Pioneer DVL 909 running through the unit and the results are outstanding. With a little practice, setting up my Yamaha to suit my viewing and listening tastes has made my investment into this superb product more than worth my while. I expect many years of enjoyment using the RX V1000. As for my speakers--the mains(L112) and rears(L15) are vintage JBLs. The center and subwoofer are a newly-acquired JBL S-Center channel and a Boston Acoustics PV800. For visual monitoring I am using a Mitsubishi 35-inch direct view television that I bought in 1988 and it is still performing flawlessly...and impressively. All-in-all, this eclectic setup has made my home theater experience a pleasure. I was a "separates" kind of person from the time of the Yamaha B1 amp/Yamaha C2a preamp/Fosgate surround era (all of which I still own...simply for the sake of nostalgia), but going to a more compact, self-contained unit such as an AV receiver has not been disappointing at all for me. I truly enjoy the simplicity and ease of use with my newer setup and the visual/audio experience has been wonderful-- I am more than happy and pleased with the results. Strength:
Excellent functionality, crisp clear sound, perfect build quailty and presentation, nice selection of DSP's, nice remote, on screen programming.
Weakness:
Volume needs to be more than half way up for good listening levels when playing DVD's. Why is that? No coaxial input specifically assigned for DVD...another small issue. I bought this unit off Ebay a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with the quality and sound reproduction thus far. Yamaha really outdid themselves with respect to the fit and finish of this product. Everything from the chassis to the front panel layout is well displayed and perfectly constructed. I've heard mixed reviews on the remote, but I for one have found it to be very practical and it has enabled me to finally get back to having only one remote for everything. You have to be kidding!!!!! Well as you can read in most of the other reviews, this badboy sounds supperb! I upgraded from the 595 because i upgraded my speakers. I do wish they had put an amp for the rear center but i just found a monoblock amp on ebay (also Yamaha) and am more than happy with the results. The DSP's are great. I use the 6 channel stereo for cds and still am amazed at the warmth of sound. TV Sports also makes baseball games sound like you paid for your seat(go M's) Similar Products Used: yam 595 |

None really found to this time. The settings take a little getting used to but thats not a big problem. When I decided to upgrade my receiver, I began looking at the Sony DB line. My first receiver was a Sony and I was a little bias to the Sony name. At the store, I decided to purchase the first model in Sony’s ES line: STR-V333ES. When I first got it, I was amazed at the quality of sound…after all, I upgraded to from a pro-logic entry-level receiver. Similar Products Used: Sony STR-V333ES; Sony STR-V444ES |

Strength:
Quality build, great sound reproduction Before you buy one you need to go to YourInsider.com to get the lowest price. Plus you'll probably find a better receiver for what you were expecting to pay for this one. Good Luck. |

Strength:
easy of setup, quality of remote, sound!
Weakness:
the back side is almost scarry with all the connections.. I upgraded from a Yamaha 595 to the 1000. The setup was a tiny bit confusing but after reading the manual almost everything was clear. Similar Products Used: Yamaha 595, Outlaw 1 |

Strength:
Yamaha quality, overall ease of use.
Weakness:
None I've found yet. Coming from a very happy experience with Pro-Logic I was a little skeptical when upgrading to Dolby Digital/DTS. WOW what a difference! I have been a Yamaha fan for almost 10 years and the RX-V1000 is awesome. It has the perfect blend of features for a room my size (20 X 20). The theather sound is incredible (the parting of the red sea on The Prince of Egypt is a great example) and the music reproduction is just as good. Similar Products Used: Yamaha RX-V660, RX-V870 |
