So far I have got the price chewed down to $1159.95. I want to buy this receiver, but I am concerned about the A/D & D/A bit rate. It is only a 20 bit conversion. Since this reciever has so many bells and whistles, I can think of only a few modifications that can be added,..one being a better/faster D/A & A/D bit conversion. The DSP-A1 already has a 24 bit converter. Also, I'm trying to save money and wondering if I should just buy a lower model number w/out all of the bells & whistles and just buy the other components, such as a DVD, with DTS, THX certified, etc. |

Hello Gentlemen,Can you please take a look at the IP addresses for "Teddy" & "Buzz Copper". They have a same IP Address - "207.227.181.xxx" (but sending e-mails at several different PCs). They are the same guy. I don't wanna tell you, Teddy (= Buzz), that you are absolutely wrong. But you are trying to cheat people here. |

I have only had the unit for two days but I must say that I am very pleased. I used to brag about my Yamaha RX-V490 ( no, I don't live in the garage of my brothers house)but it is nothing compared to this! Looking through the owners manual at the different parameter settings (surround room size, presence room size, intial delay, surround delay, etc.) made me feel like I needed a physics class, thankfully it sounded tremendous right out of the box with a simple on-screen speaker set-up. I chose small for my rears and center and large for my mains and set the LFE to SW (options are SW, Main, or Both). I originally used the 8 ohm setting for my speakers then pulled out my spec sheets and saw that all were rated at 6 Ohms. I called Yamaha and PSB and they both agreed that I should change to the 4 Ohm setting, Holy Sh*t what a difference! Bass was deeper and tighter (thought it sounded pretty good at 8 Ohm ) and everything just sounded like my amp was breathing easier. I approched 12 o'clock on volume and I swear it was as loud as any Rock concert I ever attended yet clear as a bell! Who needs bug spray! I did begin to worry about my PSB 500's since they are only rated to 100 watts. On to DVD's! The seperation improvement over Pro-Logic was astounding (duh!) but this is my first DD amp so I was thrilled and don't have much to compare it too. I did audition the DSP-A1 and Sony STR-DA80ES in an A/B comparison(both audio cd's and DVD) and neither outshine this, also listened to the Denon 3600 and am pleased I went with Yamaha. The only DVD I own so far is Twister and playback on the Panasonic A110 was very good, I did pick up a Pioneer DV-414 today and rented Godzilla and Lost in Space from NetFlix, should be here tomorrow, so I can play with both DVD players and keep the better one. If you can afford Krell and above I am sure you wil pass on this receiver, short of that I consider this the BEST value out there today. The downside is now I want to find what it sound like past 12 o'clock, any thoughts on speakers in the $800 to $1500 a pair range? Anyone own a pair of PSB Stratus (Mini,Silver, or Gold) speakers? |

After listening to this receiver this week, I have come to one conclusion: I am going to buy a Denon. Please, Yamaha, would you mind it too much if we, the consumer, wanted you to make a receiver that someone over 3 years old would appreciate. I doubt, in fact, that the 3 year old would enjoy it because at that age it is doubful they will be able to work the controls which require a PHd from Cal-Tech AND MIT! |

This Yamaha is so bad I needed to tell you twice. It is a piece of crap that has been sitting in the warm drizzle for a week. |

Strength:
This is an update on my purchase of an RXV-2095.....
Weakness:
Still cant complain. I read some of the negative reviews and I think some people need to read the manual before they start pushing buttons. Like anything, you need to take the time to learn all you can to be able to use it properly. I am an AV salesman. This is not jusy my hobby its my life. I own a system that is comprised of the most revealing speakers on the planet, Martin Logan, and I think this reciever sounds warm and has great dynamic range. In short, I urge you to find one, if you can, and enjoy it! I am changing my 4 stars in my last review to 5 stars and would call it a 10 if they would let me. I really can't get over all the power and clarity. Similar Products Used: Yamaha RXV-890, B&K AVR 307. |

Strength:
Low Distortion, clean sound, solid build
Weakness:
My ignorance This posting is not to inform you about the Yamaha's strengths and weaknesses (300 peaple have already done that). It is to inform you of the difference that how the speakers are wired affects the sound quality of not only the fronts and rears but also the subwoofer. The reason I chose the Yamaha is that my freind bought one...It sounded absolutely great...Thus I went out and purchased one at Macs...also a great place to buy stereo equipment. Anyway....after a year my freind James "re-wired" an already great system and made it sound 5 times better. For instructions on how he rewired the system his e-mail is james.mcelfresh@hbus.haldex.com. I would hate anyone not getting the full capability of this great receiver and that is the purpose of this posting. Similar Products Used: This is my first time into higher end. Strength:
High Current. I have Martin Logan Electrostatic Speakers, which are power hungry, This Amp Pushes Them With Ease.
Weakness:
At This Price...None. I paid 400 dollars for an open box I searched for weeks for a good DTS/Dolby Digital amp..I found a 2095 at Sound Advice. It was hidden in the back stock room...wrapped in bubble pack....I unwrapped it and found a fresh unit...perfect in every way....not one mark on it. I will have to order the remote and manual.I took the unit home and eagerly connected it to my $3000.00 martin logans. It was like I took a towel off the speakers. I have listened to these speakers for 4 years Similar Products Used: Yamaha RXV-890. 100W Dolby Pro-Logic. High Current. |

Strength:
Clean power, uncoloured sound, and extremely low distortion.
Weakness:
lack of component video switching and a coaxial DSS input I have a pair of Paradigm Studio 60v2's (and matching center) hooked up to the 2095 and they work beautifully together. Sound is crisp and dynamic (try the Blue Man Group DVD audio disk in 5.1- fantastic!). And, contrary to what some have said about this reciever, it DOES have the 5.1 inputs for SACD or DVD-A or whatever. All round, the US$ 750 I paid ($1200 Cdn) was probably the best value of all my components. Similar Products Used: Other YAMAHA (RX-V793) |
