can't handle 4 ohms

Great amp, but don't trust it at 4 ohms. The manual says it's supposed to be able to handle it for the mains, but the thermal overload kicks in if you get it past about -35db. Yeah, so that's freaking loud, but it'll piss you off when it happens. As a result I'm using it as a preamp and have some bulletproof adcom 565's to drive my mains. Other than that it's a great amp, and will probably make its way to my "B" system once I can afford to upgrade everything. BTW- you can adjust all speaker levels, whether to send LFE to your mains, what freq to crossover the LFE, has onscreen setup (very cool), all digital inputs are assignable (you can have a digital turntable if you wanted it!!!), Component inputs are assignable... very good very flexible amp. Just dont give it any challenging loads.

I am not really qualified to write a detailed review about audio quality due to my hearing loss that skews the freqs I can perceive. I can say that we like this amp and it does everything we want it to and more. Mainly I want to say that one of the reviewers either reviewd the wrong piece of gear or did not read the manual. Everything is adjustable, one has lots of personal control over the balances, sound field, etc... Just do not pay any attention to that negative review.

Strong HT performance. Good remote w/learning & macros. Lots of inputs/outputs. Plenty of center channel output (enough to easily drive my PSB 9C, one of the largest center channels you can buy).

Music sounds a bit crisp. I prefer Denon for music, Yamah for HT.

I can't believe the comments made here by the reviewer "footdocrrm, Audio Enthusiast". He never read the manual! For starters, to adjust the main levels, you adjust the balance. Simple, huh? Then, you can adjust ALL OF THE OTHER SPEAKERS higher or lower, individually, depending on your listening preferences. In short, this receiver allows you to calibrate the volume of all channels individually. Next up, "The test tone does not produce a signal to the subwoofer,". WHAT??!! It does so, in fact, I'm listening to it right now! It's called LFE test tone. Not only does it allow you to send the test signal to your sub, but you can scale it from full range to individual Hz levels. There are a few other incorrect statements in that "review", and the fact that this "footdocrrm, Audio Enthusiast" couldn't figure out the above basics means his opinion of the RX-V2200 should be suspect at best.

Design and appearance are good, remote is easy to use (although I did not like the hidden compartment), DSP's and sound fields actually sound really good, set-up is straight forward, reasoanble price for features that are included

Inability to increase the front R/L speaker volume above normal, poor vocalization from center channel speaker, weak bass outout from the subwoofer, no ability to adjust bass crossover frequencies, no test tone frequency for the subwoofer, 6.1 output (not 7.1) but this was known prior to time of purchase (my new receiver has 7.1 output and I was pleasantly surprised to hear the difference)

Initially I thought that this was an excellent receiver. It is powerful and provides a very good surround effect. It has numerous inputs and outputs. I was surprised that there is no direct coaxial-in for DVD (although it can be plugged into either of the coaxial-in's and configured with software. I am not a big fan of DSP's (sounfields) on most receivers, but this has been the first one where I actually enjoyed the DSP's. My primary concern with the receiver was the center channel speaker sound quality. To hear a voice clearly I would have to increase the volume on the center channel (causing the remaining non-vocal sounds from the center channel to overpower the rest of the speakers). One can compensate by increasing the rear volume, but one CANNOT adjust the front speaker volume levels (there are only 2 choices to adjust front left and right - normal or reduced). All other receivers that I have auditioned allowed the ability to set the volume levels for each speaker. The test tone does not produce a signal to the subwoofer, and I always felt the bass output to the sub was poor (even with all speakers set to small). There is no ability to adjust the crossover frequency of the speakers. After using the receiver for approximately 4 months it felt that "something was missing." The soundstage did not seem to be strong enough - I really feel that having to increase the center output volume to hear voices drowns out the rest of the system (the alternative is to reduce the center volume so all speakers are putting out equal sound volume, but then the voice becomes very muted and "un-lifelike"). I even tried an amplifier with a one channel equalizer on the center channel speaker and was still not satisified with the quality of sound from the center channel speaker. I have just upgraded to a new receiver and the differnence is unbelievable - the new receiver allows me to adjust all channels independently. Voices are crisp and clear. Bass frequencies can be adjusted and I can now feel and hear the subwoofer.

No glaring weaknesses. Maybe if I HAD to pick something it would be that the music sound quality is not as good as it is for movies (but I have found this to be true with all A/V receivers)

After comparing this unit with the Harmon Kardon 520, Denon 3802, and Sony ES5 this unit was the only that had all the feature I required and a sound quality that I enjoyed. I have had the unit for about 3 months and I absolutely love it! It is very versatile and customizable. I needed plenty a A/V inputs and this unit had more that enough - and has room for expandability. Really love the 2nd zone audio and video feature - I use this line-out to provide a/v to my whole house system in other rooms while enjoying a different source in the main home theater room. This unit is the center piece to my whole house A/V system and my home theater. For all its features and the prices it far out distances any of the competitors.
