Excellent, Awesome receiver with lots of very clean powerful crisp sound. I sure love the DSP modes and the sweet crisp detailed sound on this unit. Like the great learning remote and has tons of connection options. Admire the very sturdy and clean look of the unit, and the heavy construction. When watching movies you sure can here the little tiny details on this unit, where you might miss on some so called home theater units in the market today.

While I may not completly agree with the reviewer below about his comparison between the Denon AVR-3803 and the Yamaha RX-V2300, I do see his point: each receiver offers a wealth of features and nobody should be ashamed to own either. While I may be biased towards the Yahama, being the proud owner of one, I will say this about the Denon: when put against the Yahama, the two are so close, you would HAVE to squint to see the differences, and thats on a good day. now to the actual review: When I got this receiver home, and turned it on for the first time, I was blown away by the sound quality right out of the box. No settings were set and the sound was so clean and clear, I couldn't wait to start setting things. Once I got into the on screen menu, which may be a little intimadating at first, and got everything set, the sound only got better. And don't even get me started on the bass management system: gave my subs a whole new grasp on life, to say the least. I had stuff rattling in my room that I had forgotten about. And in watching movies and listening to music, I heard some sounds that I had never heard before, and I like it. In closing, if you can get a hold of this receiver, or any one from this model on up, do it. You will not be disappointed, I know I sure wasn't. For reference, before this receiver was noticed in the show room, I almost made a mistake, yes a mistake: I almost bought a Denon AVR-2803. And yes, in this case, a mistake.

My friend and I picked up one of these babies at an unbeleivable closeout price and were all too excited to get it home. First off let me tell you that this receiver er has an amazing amplification system, seeming to deliver a near endless ammount of rediculously clean power. The system this was ran on consisted of two paris of Mirage frx-7's(fronts & rears) a Klipsch RC-25 center channel along with both the Mirage lf-100 and lf-150 subwoofers. Although the sound was clean and well articulated, I still don't feel that it is any better than the Denon AVR-3803, it really shouldn't be compared to it though but more of a midway point between the AVR-2803 and the AVR-3803(any idiot can tell it outperforms the AVR-2803). The 3803 being slightly truer but this is something you notice at home, in fact in the showroom I think the RX-V2300 actually beats the 3803 however at home I think the 3803 is the better of the two. Of course this is not a big difference, once you get into about the $1000 price range you have to start paying in larger increments over minute increases in performance and although the two are EXTREMELY close I do feel that you still get what you pay for and to some it is worth the extra money. However make no mistake it is a fantastic receiver that does perform at or near its pricerange and with the prices where they are now you could't go wrong.

DSPs, high current design, ease of use, outstanding build quality, by far...the best bang for the buck, looks GREAT!!

Generates quite a bit of heat in a cabinet...I hooked up a fan to assist in cooling. Remote could take a lesson in ergos.

This is my second Yamaha receiver with my first one being an RX-V800 and all I can say are good things about Yamaha H/T products. I gave a listen to receivers from Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Denon, and ES Sony but I walked away with the RX-V2300. I'm sure audiophiles may disagree with my selection but I think the soundfields generated using their propriety chips found in the Yamaha are what puts this receiver line at the top of the food chain. Anyone that compares an action DTS movie on a RX-V2300 Yamaha receiver using the soundfield "70mm Spectacle" to any other receiver will suddenly realize that no matter how great the claim of a manufacturer about the quality of their amplification, without the outstanding pre-amp DSPs of the Yamaha they are regulated to a somewhat distant second place. My speakers consist of the KSF series by Klipsch as well as a 12" KSW sub.

this reciever rocks , oh man i had a sony st 885 , which i was happy with , it took me 2 weeks to convince my wife about the rx-v2300 , after i got it , she washed 4 movies the 1st 2 days , she was blown away and i was watching movies with a big mouth and ears open , i'm extremely happy that reciever you can hear every speaker and music is way to good on that reciever , simly i just love it

This reciever rocks! After reading countless reviews about Yamaha,Denon and Pioneer i went to listen to them. I was set on the Denon 3803 but i wanted to at least hear it before i made up my mind.I heard the Denon,the Pioneer and then the Yamaha. The Yamaha out performed the Denon and the Pioneer without a doubt.It is so much clearer than the Denon and the Pioneer. Easy to set up.And a joy to listen to. I am more than happy with this baby.When you go to listen to it , have the salesman do a little demo for you head to head with Yamaha, Denon and Pioneer. Then you will hear what i am talking about.THX IS A JOKE!

Lots of power Nice sound stage good variety of DSP modes

Takes a little bit of work to figure out how it works. It does give you a bit of a hiss or white noise in the rear speakers when watching TV that is only 2 channel. I have to go to direct no DSP to stop the hissing. It is only 6.1 with a single center back speaker but not an issue in most rooms since 7.1 with two speakers at the side as well is a bit of overkill for most rooms.

I love this receiver. I had tryed an onkyo sr 700 but it was no match for this unit and the Yamaha was less money. The souynd is do clear and and powerful I havn't turned it past -20 cause it is so loud. I have Energy Connisour speakers and a 14inch Definitive Technology sub in a room 25 ft by 15 ft. I heard the Denon 3803 as well and it sounded good but for the money the and for better sound in movies with more DSP modes fro variety. I only have my theatre wired for 5.1 but the 5.1/6.1 stereo mode sounds awesome. I listened to Eagles Hell Freezes over tour DVD and it is like you are there at the concert. And in watching Lord of the Rings I was blown away at the way it filled my room with sound...I felt the arrows whip by my head and the part where the old master gets a little mad at one of the hobbist and reases his voice in a thunderous manner...it sent tingle down my back. I consider myself to have a pretty good ear and I have to say if you are considering a receiver and are looking at the Denon 3802/3 or the Onkyo 700/800, or HK, listen to the yamaha, it has a clear sound advantage.

To take the full advantages of the unit, you need to spend some time to read the owner's manual to be fully aware with all of their features and setup.

I have this receiver since New Year. Before I were making the decision to purchase this unit. I were comparing it with Pioneer Elite series and Denon in the same price range. I have to say in the same price range. This unit beat them all in terms of sound quality, price, features and number of the inputs and outputs. After owing this unit for more than four months, I can tell you that this unit is really a good AV receiver. It give you crystal clear sound and tight bass. Low harmonic distortion. This 32 bits sound ready for future enhenced DVD disc.

Just wanted to say i spent time listening to the denon avr3803, the marantz sr 7300 as well as the onkyo sr 800. All i have to say for sound quality and movie enjoyment, there is no reciever that sounds better than the yamaha rxv2300. simply awesome. Still satisfied after 2 months.

I had the marantz SR7200 for about a year now. I decided to upgrade. I demoed the marantz against the new SR7300, the denon avr3803 and the yamaha RXV2300. FOr music the marantz and the yammie were similar. The denon was just horrible. I decided to upgrade to the yamaha. The sound for movies is so nice and full. It has so much power, I can't turn it up that loud, and all i can say is that is blows the marantz away. This thing sound so good and clean Very impressive.
