Strength:
Sound, features, looks, a good remote and price.
Weakness:
I have to upgrade all of my speakers now. What can I say. Amazing. I say it any better than any of the other reivews. Crisp clean sound. It will take everything you can give it and still leave a huge grin on your face. The DSP's are great. So many options that work well depending on if you're watching a T.V program or a movie on the dish, my stallite receiver doesn't have DD. I like to watch live concert videos on my DVD player and sometimes switching to one of the DSP's actually sounds better than DD or DTS. I bought this receiver to replace my RX-V590 I bought about 6 years ago. WOW what a difference. For the price I couldn't pass it down. That's 1500 CDN dollars I paid from a local store, not online. I was looking at the Harmon Kardon AVR-8000, but at a price tag almost twice the amount I could not justify the difference for what I was getting. Also I liked some of the features on the Yamaha better, like the fact you can add two extra front speakers for movie sound effects. I have the GL (Gold Look) model and for mere presence all you have to do is look at it and you know this unit means business and it does it with style. I am so happy I stuck with Yamaha. I have to comment on the remote though. It is very good, but I have never used it. I have a Home Theater Master MX-500 and the Yamaha remote doesn't touch it. It would be nice to have a full back light and the ability to do more advanced functions for other a/v components. For instance I have a 5 disc DVD player. I could not set up the remote to allow me to skip discs, meaning I would have to use my DVD remote or God forbid I would actually have to get off my butt to skip discs. Is it a big deal, not really. The Yamaha remote still has Macros and already has the codes built in it for pretty much every a/v component out there. What's even better is you don't have to remember the manufacture codes. The manufacture name is right in the remote. You select the manufacture and then have the choice of 4 or 5 different frequencies that might work with your a/v component. This works great when you buy a new a/v component you don't have to haul out the owners manual to know what manufacture code to input into the remote. I don't think you'll find a better remote with a receiver at this price level. One other thing, this is a big receiver. It's tall and deep, you might have a hard time getting it in a cabinet. I had to cut the back end out of my cabin Similar Products Used: Yamaha RX-V590. Kenwood can't remeber the model |

Strength:
Solid Built, lots of input and output for future use.
Weakness:
Manuel and remote control. This is my upgrade from HK AVR65, the receiver sound very clear, power and detail. The hook up is pretty, but the manuel should have been more detail.Performance of Yamaha RX V-3000 is by far best for me.Consider the price and value factor what other choice you will have on the market. I love this reciever!
Weakness:
Yep,...You all are right! The remote pretty much sucks! And having a projector,..the room has to be somewhat dark! BACKLIGHT THE WHOLE REMOTE! As soon as my Philips ProntoPro comes in,..the yamaha remote is going bye bye! All I can say is WOW! I was worried that I was going to be disapointed if I didnt go with yamahas flagship reciever(RX-V1) But because of a decent price,...I went with the RX-V3000. And I am glad I did! This thing runs my system absolutly perfect! Even with my surrounds that came in a little late the sound is superb! I am running all Energy speakers. xl-s12(SUB) v2.4(FLOORS) v2.0(CENTER) v2.0(REARS). I am also running the new infocus projector. I love this whole system! And while I am watching a DVD and glance over at my gold RX-V3000,..and has a big grin on it thatjust says,...BRING IT ON! Similar Products Used: Onkyo,Technics,Sony |

Strength:
Power Price Low heat--
Weakness:
none so far Upgraded from H/K AVR-85--have never owned a Yamha product- so far am impressed with the flexability of this unit-find the remote superior to the H/K-also the seperation in the rears is better-power is great. I agree with other reviews-very little heat-also love the all channel stereo feature--for the money this unit is hard to beat. Similar Products Used: H/K AVR-85 |

Strength:
Crystal clean and powerful. Plenty of digital and analog inputs. 6 channel analog inputs for when I finally go DVDA/SACD.
Weakness:
I too wish Yamaha would have back lit the entire remote..not a big deal though. I bought this receiver as an upgrade from my RX-V2090 about two months ago. This receiver has surpassed all of my expectations! Movies and music come through CRYSTAL clear. I am hearing details I missed before. There are a few DSP modes that I actually like on this unit too. The eight channel stereo is definitely one of them! You can adjust the DSP modes for room size, speaker distance, delay..etc to suite YOUR taste. The Burr-Brown DAC''s up front really make it shine. The OSD was simple and easy to follow. The remote has worked perfectly and was easy to program. I bought this receiver on close-out and they honored a $100.00 off coupon on top of that! If you were even thinking about purchasing this receiver, get it now before it''s too late. The price is right due to the RX-V3200''s arrival. I love this thing!!! Strength:
Extremely clean and powerful. Stylish look. Remote works as advertised and has a very stong signal.
Weakness:
None found so far........... I have owned this receiver for a little over two months now with NO complaints or problems whatsoever. I hear things in both movies and music that I hadn''t heard in my previous receiver. Accurate, Clear & Powerfull. I really can''t add much to what has already been said... If your looking for a FINE receiver, check this one out! The price has dropped considerably to make room for the 3200. Pure quality................ I LIKE IT A LOT! Strength:
Great highs and lows. Wonderful sounds in both HT and music.
Weakness:
Horrible remote. NO INTEREST IN CUSTOMER SERVICE OR SUPPORT FROM YAMAHA. No onsceen display for DVD or Digital input from sat. I upgraded existing RXV-3000 with Pioneer Elite 710HD and RCA HD sat. receiver. Remote has no settings for RCA although it is the most popular sat receiver for DirectTV. Remote will not work on TV. Onscreen programing will not work on DVD or digital input from sat. Panel too dim to see from more than 5 feet. Dealer not interested because RXV out of warranty. The worst is that Yamaha support will not respond to emails seeking help. I never had any of these problems with Pioneer Elite VSX-29TX. Dealer and Pioneer helpful with problems. If you are going to buy high-end-don''t buy Yamaha..They have no interest in customer satisfaction Similar Products Used: Pioneer Elite VSX-29TX |
