Strength:
Everything! Everyone who has said this receiver isn't any good is totally full of it, I love mine!
Weakness:
Nothing I can think of! This receiver is terrific! It's got tons of DSP modes, and all of them sound great! My friend has a Sony DTS receiver, and when watching TV or movies, I think mine sounds much better. It's got plenty of power to all channels. Plenty of Ins and outs for everything I needed. I spent about $250, I think, about two years ago, and it was worth every penny. I think they discontinued this, so if you can find one used, and are looking to spend about $100 or less, I wouldn't waste any time buying one! I only had one problem, and that was eratic volume on the center and rear channels. i investigated, though, and it was just shoddy cable. gets a 5 for value, but a 4 for overall, because the remote doesn't work for my other components (I know it's a dumb reason to get a four, but i had to buy an overall remote) Similar Products Used: new sony DE line |

Strength:
High end, Dolby Pro Logic Mode, Seperate volume knobs for center and surround speakers.
Weakness:
Lows, DSP modes other than Dolby Pro Logic. Pretty good Pro-Logic receiver for entry level users. When I first bought it, I used it solely for music, with minimal home theater use. I've had it for 2 years, and since then I've gotten much more into home theater. There are many DSP modes to choose from...Most sound very terrible, especially for music. Turn the effect off if you're just playing music, it will sound 1000 times better. Pro logic mode sounds pretty good for movies though. I don't remember what I bought it for, but you could get a great DD or DTS receiver now for the same price. Similar Products Used: None |

Don't know much about audio equipment, but from what I've heard from my new receiver - I like it! I got it hooked up to a cheapo Sansui 3 speaker system (which I'm planning to upgrade) and it still sounds great. Good entry level receiver. |

Strength:
Overall good natural sound in stereo, especially high frequencies, moderately good mid-range. In Pro-logic,it creates a real atmosphere, though not the most accurate when it comes to signal placement.
Weakness:
Ok, but not the greatest tuner. Surround modes other then Dolby Pro-logic unusable. Terrible with re-creating low frequencies. Be warned, on some examples the signal to the right speaker is stronger then to the left(when balance neutral), out of 5 I've checked 2 had this (although only slight) problem. At the time, nothing came close for the money, but things change don't they. Similar Products Used: none used, but many listened to. |
