7767 This receiver is almost good for the price paid. This opinion is why the dts decoder is unavailable, that today is essential in this class of receiver. The overall performance is good , the sound is clear mainly in treble range.

Amazing. Even with small speakers this receiver gives you a good quality.
Small details that people won't notice but makes this one cheap and 10x better than Sony or Philips 2x more expensive that I've had.

Strength:

price, clarity, top quality for DVD DD.

Weakness:

no DTS, poor 2 channel sound.

I was looking for a quality Dolby Digital reciever, with reasonable power, enuff power for a bedroom and cheap price. I couldnt find a cheaper dolby digital reciever then this, there were more expensive ones but they werent very powerful and reviews werent so good. For DVD, this is amazing for the price, top class, low noise, good channel seperation, very clear and smooth. it might not have DTS but here in the uk well over 90% of DVD's are DD. I listen more to music then watch DVD's so 2 channel performance was a concern. I have some B&W 601 for front and Yamaha SW205 for a sub and the performance is decent too quite good. well everything is crystal clear and bass and treble are just as they should be, the only thing is at loud volumes, its just way too harsh and makes you want to turn the volume down. But for the price, I dont regret buying it, I can get a cheap NAD for good 2 channel stereo. For what its suppose to do, DVD is great.

Strength:

Enough power on board, easy set-up, discrete display,

Weakness:

Springclips, plastic front,

Because music means a lot more to me, film is not the thing for me to spend a lot of money on. I looked around, and was trying to find the best receiver possible for the least money. This yamaha was the cheapest that i could find. It only has 60 w/channel but it isn''t my first yamaha so i knew that there would be plenty of power. I also thought it was no use in getting a receiver with dts because how many dvd''s are out there that are encoded with dts. Here in europe, almost none. And i don''t like all the extra cable and electronics in the amp needed to provide dts. So this was the most stripped receiver around, just dolby digital. Hooking it up was easy, it is a simple set-up but only the speakerterminals could have been better. They are clips instead of screws. Only the main speakers have real screw terminals. It weighs in at about 10 kgs, it has the exact weight of the rx 420 that follows up this receiver but still how can that be? The rx 420 is claimed to deliver 5/100 watts and has dts. I regret the fact that there are no pre-out terminals. The measily 60 watt is more than enough to ensure a breathtaking movie experience. It goes low, doesn''t clip or distort when pushed at the limit. Yamaha did a good job for just this kinda money.

Strength:

Power, conections, audio, digital output

Weakness:

no volume led indicator

Simply the best !
There´s no entry-level equipament whit so many qualities than that Yamaha wich I use to movies and music.
The digital processor is amazing, sounds so good in a small rooms whit the NS - P210 an active subwoofer sold as a bundle.
There´s no DTS decoder built in, who cares... when Dolby Digital as used like market standart?

Strength:

Great power, very good channel separation, amazing clarity, good price, high sub preout power

Weakness:

AM/FM presets are awkward to use, remote awkward

First off, 60x5 Watts?? It literally blew my older Pioneer 100x5 out of the comparision. It wasn't even close. I have the Energy Take5 system and to pair this RX with these speakers is a perfect match. The system sounds much more dynamic, detailed and much more clarity and power at both top and low end than ANY of the above comparisions.
As mentioned before the pre-out voltage is 5x's the amount of others, I had to turn my sub way down.
Even the old Prologic sound infinitely better with much better separation from front to rear. When moving to Dolby Digital it performed better tha anitcipated, with no bleedthrough between the rears.
It has enough functions to set the system up perfectly. with different acoustical saved settings for movie and music.
I search for moths for the best buy for my needs and this system met all requirements. Even though the remote is odd and the AM/Fm is strange to navigate, it is well worth it to experience natural powerfull sound.

I recommend this RX to anyone who loves music and movies, like a minimal amount of gadgets and like to still have $$ to go buy DVD's.

Strength:

Good sound for price

Weakness:

no DTS

This is truly a value for money receiver. You can't go much cheaper for a quality receiver. Yes, it lacks DTS but if how often do you actually use DTS anyway? Total output is strong enough for a reasonably sized room and it is good for a beginner. Using it with yamaha tower fronts and wharfedale diamond rears and it gives sufficient power output.

Strength:

Friendly interface, clean sound

Weakness:

No DTS, but not a big deal

This amp provides clean tones and delivers great bottom. Made for the casual listener that insist on having great sound when needed. Has simpler visual appeal which usually indicates you are buying quality parts and not bells and whistles. Uses mosfet technology. I'm satisfied!

Strength:

Clean and full range sound. Excellent build quality and value for money....

Weakness:

Could sound better for music

I love this amp. I shopped around a fair bit and realise that this was definatley the best amp under $500.. Awesome for home theater but lacks a little in the music department, tends to sound a little 'shrieky'.... Overall a great amp, especially for the price. I don't think you can better it for the price. Although it only has 60w outputs, it sounds alot better than its competitors that boast 100w + power....
Highly recommended
