Strength:
Well built, no problems with unit.
Weakness:
Can't not leave radio station number on. Unit is mainly used for movies, sound to me is over powering, sometimes cannot hear dialog because of background sounds. It has been set up with a sound meter. I have had a Denon AVR-3200 and a Pioneer Elite VSX07TX, sold the Pioneer because it did not have DTS and bought the Yamaha. Since then have only had a DTS movie. Don't get me wrong the Yamaha is great I am pround to show it off, But my preference would be the Pioneer because the sound in movies is much moe like a theater. I recently purchased the Yamaha RX-V795 and I am completly satisfied. I do wish the remote would actually glow in the dark but after using it for awhile I found that it is fairly easy to remember where the most imortant controls are. The setup and use of this reciever is straight forward and I love having the ability to adjust the DSP modes to suite my personal taste. This is a great product for anyone looking for quality under a $1000.00 bucks. |

Strength:
Powerful. Excellent DD sound for movie. Good value for the price C$899.
Weakness:
Loudness is useless. Spring clip speakers connection. DVD and LD share the same jack. Lack of dual sub output. Great sound and powerful. I rarely need to turn the volume more than half to drive my Def Tech BP2004 (main), CLR2002 (centre), and BP6 (S/R). Explosion sound is clear and 'earthquaky'. Good sensitivity of tuner. |

Strength:
Quality/price.
Weakness:
Lack of binding post for center and rear speakers. Missing S video inputs for DSS & DVD. (Both fixed on 795a). Great price (mail order) for features and quality. |

Strength:
Excellent Home Theatre Features.
Weakness:
Really complicated remote I looked in depth at many AV/receivers in the A$1200 - A$1500 mark. In my dicussions with friends and sales rep's, I must say the RX-V795 won hands down. The crisp, clear sound when using 2-channel stereo was breathe taking, the 6 channel Dolby Digital and DTS was mind blowing. The complete functionality was amazing!! My mind was made up before I purchased this unit. Since then the unit has performed better than expected. I can't rave enough about it. The only draw-backs I have found are minor Similar Products Used: ONKYO 656&535 |

Strength:
Manual and remote very easy to comprehend. Sounds great for music, awaiting home theatre "maiden voyage".
Weakness:
If I need to warm up a burrito, I can place it on top of the unit! It definately generates alot of BTU's. So far so good!! I have had good luck and really enjoy the system. I have an older sony 5 disk changer paired up to the Mirage AVS 500 with a bps 150i sub Also Mirage. My friends cannot believe the "big sound" from such a moderate system. Wifey likes it too. I am going to shop for a new CD player, and being the budget conservative, any suggestions?? Similar Products Used: Sony strav920 |

As with all Yamaha products, this one is of superb quality. All in all, I am very happy with the unit, I got the 795a. It has binding posts for all speakers. I am somewhat disappointed by the lack of a variable loudness control, found on older yamaha integrated amps, and the lack of more coaxial inputs, only one is provided. The remote is a bit annoying but easily livable. More codes need to be provided for TV's, I have a new TV but none of the codes worked for it. Still the best sounding unit for the money, or even a bit more money. |

Overall I Am Extremely Happy With This Reciever, I Really Am Disappointed With One Aspect Which Is That You Would Think Yahama Could Put Out An Upto Date Processer At 24bit Instead Of 20bit. Otherwise It Is The Perfect Amp For Entry True Home Theater. |
