Strength:

Slim Design

Weakness:

Power

I wanted to use the Ampone to power my new home sub which
contains a Cerwin-Vega Vega 124 sub. I am using my Denon
AVR-2700 sub out to send to the amp. With the Ampone I had
to turn all my 5 speakers down from +10 to 0 and turn up
the sub to +12. Then turn the Denons main volume all the way
up to -12. Then turn the Ampones volume all the way up. The Ampones volume did nothing from 0 to halfway. Normally I watch a movie at -20. This amp is not high current. I sent it back and replaced it with a Onkyo TX-8211 Stereo Receiver that puts out 105 watts at 4 ohms and is rated 4 ohms stable. Now I can have my volume set at -20 and my sub turned down to +8 and my 5 speakers set at +10. So if you want a high current amp don't pick the Ampone. I also tried the Audio Source SW15 Home Subwoofer and everybody was right about it was way to boomy even if you put 15 pounds of speaker fill in it you will never make it sound good because it needs a bigger box. That is why I built my own for $400.00 and it sounds better than anything I heard in the stores.

I have 6 amp-1's in mono driving my home theater. I originally bought them after reading a review in audio magazine. I could not be more pleased, the sound quality in both surround and stereo is very good. They have no problem with my NHT 2.5's nor shown any distortion or clipping. No, they do not have the build quality of a bryston amp, but, the sound makes up for it.

Strength:

Slim, Clear, Details...;well finished.

Weakness:

Nothing but no direct switch on Pre-one.

I'am using one pre-one and two amp-one for my Jamo E850 speaker (bi-amping wired). Deep, clear and details at mid and high. Can not find any thing else better at this price.

Strength:

Value, size, clarity of sound

Weakness:

at this price, none I can think of

I was trying to put together a two channel "reference" system on a budget. I mainly listen to music, and got a wild hair to go with all seperates. I had everything I needed except an amp. I originally ordered an Audio Source Amp 2, however, they were on back order and the wholesaler sent my dealer an Amp 1. I was first going to wait for the Amp 2 but I was offered a killer deal on the Amp 1 so I bought it, $150.00 plus tax! I am very happy this this little amps performance. It drives my JBL S-38s with ease. Very clear and smooth accross the whole sonic spectrum. The low end is handled very nicely by my Velo. CT-120 so the amp dose'nt have to give the bottom punch.
My humble two channel system is:
Audio Source Amp 1
Denon PRA-1500 pre-amp
Denon DCM 370 CD changer
Denon tu 1500 tuner
JBL S-38 mains
Velodyne CT-120 sub
Enjoy the music!

Strength:

Low Cost, Clean sound

Weakness:

speaker terminals cheap

I am using the Amp One/A in bridged mode to power my MMG Magnaplaners. In bridged mono mode they produce 200 watts per channel and give very clean sound for the money. The MMG are a planer speaker and very hard to drive, you need a lot of power to get the best sound. The Amp One's do a good job. I paid $179 per unit and the sound is clean and balanced. I would of had to pay much, much more to get better sound. They unit puts out 80 watts in stereo mode. The unit is very slim and it is similar to the Amp Two, but without the meters. The units run a little hotter than I would like but not bad for the money. If you were putting together a sound system or home theater and needed some power and don't want to spend much money this is a good choice. The only thing that AudioSource needs to do with this amp is give better speaker terminals in the back of the unit. The ones on the unit are not as heavy duty as they should be.

Strength:

value, attractive design, solid

Weakness:

poor quality, meters and lights burn out, seperate L and R volume (matter of tatse)

unsatisfied with the existing set-up in our living room I convinced my father to upgrade to seperates assuming they would blow away the aging Nakimichi receiver we had.
I pointed out the audiosource one amp and pre-amp at J&R because they were (the only seperates) in our price range, and soon after we were setting them up in our living room.
I must say that I was dissapointed then, and my opinion hasnt changed in the past 4 years.
maybe its more a credit to the excellent Nakimichi reciever than a discredit to the audiosource, or maybe its the awfull audiosource pre-amp which is severly lacking in quality.

I heard very little audible improvement from the old system other than a slight bass extension in the lows. the mids are relatively thin and the highs dont exactly sing.
The meters and lights burned out alarmingly quick.
On the other hand the "One" is relatively clean and clear power, and a decent value for the money.
Its an okay peice but I think you may be able to do better, even for the money.
