Weakness:
One tube is giving me trouble. Sonically, none. I love this amp. I didn't opt for the SE, but I can always consider an upgrade. The sound is simply stunning in ways difficult to describe. Cafe Blue shows off my system well; it includes a Wadia 861, the BAT, Dunlavy SM-1's and a top of the line MK sub (running from RCA output of 861). I'm still fine tuning placement of the speakers, and the amp needs more break in time, but the incremental difference between this amp (in my system) and something better is very unlikely to be worth the money. I liked my ARC too, but I never heard it with the 861, so I can't make a direct comparison. $839 to replace tubes was a turn off, so I just bought another amp. Based on only a few listening sessions, and a few laughs at how damn good the system sounds, the BAT is money well spent. Happy listening. Oh, and the folks at BAT are pretty cool.
