Just bought the AV-705x Premiere a week ago. At $657 this was a steal. The 5 x 125/ch is real clean and 180/ch in stereo is incredible. This power amp has done wonders for my Klipsch KLF 30's and my Paradigm Monitor 3 surrounds. Highly recommend this product so far and now that Bob Carver has retaken control of his original company, this just revitalizes audio enthusiasts trust of the Carver name again. If you're looking to add power to an up and coming home theatre system this is the way to go. SOLID AMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not to mention this power amp is Lucas Film THX certified.

I bought this unit used over the net. I have never had one problem. I use the unit every day to power my surround and center channels (LS, LR, CC, RS, RR). It has a rich full sound. Too bad Carver is out of business, this is one strong product. Until I can afford a Sunfire Cenima Grand Signature this baby stays with me.

I did have a chance to listen to this amp twice with different setups at different dealers
1-CD Player Rotel (didnt know the model)
Preamp Rotel (990 I think), Audio Research (didnt know the model)
Speakers: PSB Silver
The sound was very bright. It was almost harsh.
2-CD Player: Didnt remember
Preamp: Marantz 550
Speakers: Smell Type E
For music, it was still very bright. For home theater, it sounded great.
In conclusion, I think this amp is more for home theater than for music,(or
may be I didnt hear it with proper (matched) electronics). For theater,
with the discount for being discontinued, it is one of the best bargains.

Have owned the amp for about two months. Nothing but great things to say about it. Paid $700 for it and the decision was fantastic, so, I bought another one. Great amps for the money. Running each amp in different rooms, both with Carver Dolby pro pre amps. If you can find one buy one, you will not be dissapointed. Music is pushed through with ease and has a great range. Movies come alive with this amp. Solid amp.
