I used these amps with B&W 802 nautilus. Amps that I have tried before using these amps include Classe One thousands mono blocks, Bryston 7b SST, and Mcintosh 501's. Cary's to my ears sound closest to Mcinstosh 501's. Imaging and sound stage was great with these amps. Mid's and highs were neutral and very analog sounding. The only thing that bother me was base was deeper for my taste. I listen to classic rock a lot and like slam in base and these amps lacked that. I thought about bi amping these amps for mids and highs while Classe for woofers but did not do it due to lack of space. All in all good amps specially for folks who like tube like sound. Not for folks who are looking for true solid state fast base with a slam. |
