Strength:

Huge amount of overhead power. 10 year warranty. Beautiful sound.

Weakness:

140 pounds

This is a product that will blow you out of the water. Crystal clear sound, more power than you can imagine, and a build quality that's surpassed by none. I actually got rid of my sub after I set my speakers to large with this amp. It's simply amazing.

Strength:

Monsterous amounts of very clean power. low price/performance.

Weakness:

This is one heavy amplifier. Probably should have its own A/C circuit.

I have never heard home theater that comes close to this. I would agree with Stewart, this unit never seems loud. I measured 108 dB at my usual chair, and was not in any discomfort. I usually don''t go above 95-98 dB. Both music and movie soundtracks sound more present with substantial bass. Highs are airy and delicate. This is home theater as it is meant to be. There is bass present that is not due to my subs. This amp really makes my speakers shine. I thought the B&K amp was great, but it pales in comparison. If you want perfect home theater, this is a great place to start. My system is: Def. Tech. BP 30''s (2) mains Def. Tech. CLR 2000 Def. Tech. BP 2''s (4) S & R Pinnacle Digital 350 SW (2) Pioneer VSX37TX Reciever Pioneer DV414 DVD player B&K Reference 4320 rear amp Pioneer CD File 1007 (2) Front three speakers are bi-wired with 12 ga. copper wire. Monster connects throughout.

Strength:

Imaging Detail, Build Quality and Power.

Weakness:

Lack of balanced inputs.

I've been living with the Cinenova for about 3 months. First thing is everything you have heard about this amp being brute heavy is absolutely true, be prepared to enlist help whenever you move it unless of course you are a body builder. The Cineova was purchased as my first seperate piece and currently is connected to my Sony STR-DA333ES reciever using the reciever's preamp section. Immediatly I noticed how much more detail the amp provided over the Sony's amp section. The Sony's amp makes some sounds appear muddled, I didn't notice this really until I hooked up the Cinenova and then it immediately came to light. Examples being in SPR there are scenes where it's raining, with the Cinenova each drop is apparent and the feeling of being there is more real. Another is I recall a movie scene where a birdcage is in the backdrop and while there are characters walking across the room talking I could hear a bird chirping in the background. Would the Sony let me hear the bird I don't think so.

The build quality on the Cinenova is second to none, the face plate is CNC machined out of extruded aluminum and in itself is a beautiful piece. The sheet metal cover is a thick (12 guage I believe) and is held in place by over 20 cap screws. Some have noticed that the Cinenova looks similar to the ATI 2505, there is a good reason for this! I phoned Earthquake shortly after my purchase and was fortunate enough to speak at length to firm's VP Joseph Sahyoun. Mr. Sahyoun (as it turns out is a neighbor!) explained to me that Earthquake designs and licenses it's technology to other firms, including ATI. Another side note is he also invited me to visit and they would custom machine a faceplate for me at no charge if I wanted one, now that is customer service!

Is this amp in the same class as a Proceed, Madrigal, Krell etc. that I'm not qualified to answer. However for amps in the $4,000-$8,000 range I believe improvments would be minor. Considering the street price of the Cinenova $2,500-$3,500 I don't think there is anything that even comes close. Would I buy another, I might but only after listening to the above attached to a much higher end preamp section. Oh and the Sony will be replaced, the front contender now is the Proceed AVP.

My current equipment list is:

Sony STR-DA333ES Reciever (Pre-Amp section only)

Strength:

clarity, detail...price

Weakness:

flimsy power cord is a mismatch

I've only had it for a little over a month, but am thoroughly impressed with the sound. The ability of this amp to reproduce the full impact of 5 channel movie soundtracks is well publicized, but it's something that has to be experienced. Even at relatively moderate listening levels this amp is absolutely incredible at revealing ever nuance of detail. At higher volumes, it never really seems "loud," but it is...it's just so clear! When there is some kind of sudden peak in volume of the soundtrack--it really rocks! In "The Haunting," it felt like it was my own house that was collapsing around me! Although I'm not a Krell-owning afficinado audiophile-type guy, I'd have to say that you'd have to spend a lot more money to achieve a better sounding amp for the money. It's just beautiful. Music CDs I've heard many times never sounded better. I love this amp!

Strength:

Sound output in conjuction with the following components is excellent:Marantz AV-9000, Earthquake Sub MIV, Newform Research Ribbon Speakers, Toshiba DVD-SD2200. The amp can handle more than my house wall and windows.

Weakness:

very heavy and difficult but it is worth the effort

I am new at having a quality system like this one and it is difficult to assess it by component. But,I would recommend it and would appreciate any comments from others. It performs well in music and theater applications.
