I have used these amps for almost 2 years now and love them. I have 3 of them and wouldn't trade them for anything. They are by far the best sounding amps that I have heard with the level of detail and overall quality that rivals any of the top names in the market. They also have a tremendous amount of power that will satisfy any home theater or music lover's need. I have used many other amps from many manufacturers and I will say that this by far exceeds all of the others in overall musicality. I also have it mated to a FAP-T1 processor that I also hold a high regard for. I have heard that there are only very few of these 1000.5 amps that ever were produced and if you have a chance to pick one up, definitely a worthwhile purchase. |

I don't know why I am the first to write a review on this unit. It must be the best kept secret and no one wants to let the secret out. I have been a big fan of the Transnova amp designed by Jim Strickland for Hafler. (Specifically the 9500 a money combo with the Acoustat 2+2's) So when I discovered that his talents were not put to rest at the farewell to Hafler, I thought I had better take a look at what he had his hands into with Fosgate Audionics. For the MSRP of $2800 it competed well with anything in its class. It is a bargain on the resale market if you are willing to wait for one to come up for sale. Either they did not make very many, or nobody wants to sell. The Transana topology works nicely for Home Theater use. The J-FET input stage with the MOSFET output stage works nicely especially when used with a high current MOSFET pre amp like the FAPT 1+. It runs very cool for a 200w x 5 amp. I am running mine with Vandersteen Speakers with great results. More that enough head room and very dynamic.
