Marantz PM-8003: Think finesse. This is a remarkably transparent sounding (Integrated) amplifier. The all-so-important upper bass/lower midrange is reproduced with transparency and natural detail that is truly high-end. In fact, bottom to top reproduction is amazingly well integrated (i.e. extremely natural, musical).

The pm8003 has the classic marantz sound that I have read about, easy to listen to, as they say about the higher end marantz amps. At this price level I found it very nice. One major problem for my NHT T5 speakers is that is under powered, otherwise I would have kept it. After much research I decided to go all the way up to the Marantz PM-11s2. If you have very efficient speakers, ie. over 90 dbs., you will probably be happy. The pm8003 definitely will take away some of that nasty digital harshness. |

Strength:
Well made. Solid
Weakness:
No light or volume indicator on volume control. Difficult to determine volume at a glance. Way better soundstage than any 5:1 or 7: 1 AV receiver.
