Strength:
The ML 29 plays music The new amplifiers from Mark Levinson do not play music just focusing on big bas and a huge soundstage. The two best amplifiers for the money are ML 27.5 and ML 29. I use my ML 29 with TEAC CD-player. Similar Products Used: Linn, krell ksa 50 |

Focus, sounstage, timbral balance, dinamics
Weakness:
little less bass impact than higher power amps. nothing else in the marketplace. still in my system after 6 year, this amplifier beats any of the similar products used, i used it with martin logan electrostatics and now with B&W 801´s, the only solid state amplifier that i would like to sustitute it is the Krell FPB300. The 29 is the perfect mach for B&W 801 SII & III, and it sounds better with tube preamplifiers (i used it with Audio Research LS7, Audible Modulus 3A and VTL TL-2) don´t worry about the 50w per channel, i have been used more powerfull amplifiers, but in any case, they reach less than 70% of 29´s sound quality, for example, the 23.5 is dry and analitical, the classe 300 less clear and uninvolving. One of the Levinson best amps made. Similar Products Used: Classé 300, Adcom monoblocks, levinson 23.5, levinson 333, Forte 4 & 6 |

The ML29 is an extraordinarily refined amp, with an exceptional purity of sound. Other amps sound rather crude in comparison. It is very detailed, and possesses a warm midrange and a huge soundstage. I've had it for nine years now, and nothing I've heard in that time tempts me to sell it. Highly recommended! |

Strength:
Dependable (even with lightening storms), musical, warm, mates well with electrostatics, harmonically rich.
Weakness:
a tiny bit soft in the low bass...lacking in that last bit of slam available to higher power amps. I bought mine new over 10 years ago and it continues to be one of the most musical amps I have had the pleasure of owning. Always lush, warm and vibrant. I have it mated to a No. 28 and the combo is truly killer driving electrostatics. The only thing missing is that ultimate authority, extension and definition in the "mid to low" lows...and that comes with more power. I have never felt the need to upgrade on the basis of sound...only on power. However, that being said, it is one of the most delicate, subtle and refined amps I have ever heard. Moreover, it is solid and about as bulletproof as can be made, having survived 9+ years of Wisconsin lightening storms without a single glitch. If I could find another and use the pair as monoblocks... Similar Products Used: KSA-100, Counterpoint SA-220, Hafler XL-280, Adcom 555 |

Strength:
SMOOTH, refined, detailed
Weakness:
50wpc is noticably less than my old 125wpc amp This amplifier is amazing. I got mine used for $1000 and am VERY impressed. The soundstage is huge. Instrument placement is unbeliveable. Highs are smooth, midrange is warm, and bass is deep and accurate. This is by far one of the best sounding amps I have ever heard! Highly recommended! Similar Products Used: Krell KAV-150 |
