My 400 is used with a C-J CT 5 preamp, Nottingham 294 table and arm, Nova Phenomena phono preamp, Dynavector 17 D3 cart. and Dunlavy SC IV speakers. This has to be the biggest bargain in hi fi. Read Robert Green's review in TAS in which he says that you can spend more but wont get anything better. He is right. Its outstanding characteristics are: clarity, crispness, neutrality, control, quickness...........just read the review. As clean as it is, there is also sweetness and fullness from top to bottom. John Dunlavy 's design criteria was to have a speaker that was time and phase aligned. It's really big (6 ft. and 180 pounds with 5 speakers per side) but the Marsh keeps them all in sync and under control even where they require lots of current as efficient as they are. This amp is an amazing buy used. Get two.
