Strength:
I bought one of these used to drop into a 2-channel system. I couldn't afford the same amount of power that you get in bridged mode st anywhere near the price I paid. The sound of the unit is pure McIntosh with very smooth delivery across ther audible band. Front to back separation is as good as left to right on my Tannoy S8s. The power delivers controlled bass and clean lifelike mids and highs. I'm certain it would be great for theater for which it was designed but if you're considering 300W+ for your 2 channel, you should consider this as a solid option. Weakness:
None but don't recommend moving a lot as it's big and heavy Price Paid: 1100
Purchased: Used
Model Year: 1998

Strength:
Sound, build, history, looks beautiful in the dark.
Weakness:
No auto on feature, oh well. Incredible piece. Now I understand why McIntosh has such a loyal fan base. The sound from my Meridian preamp is flawless. For the price I would have been a fool to purchase this model. Similar Products Used: Rotel, Anthem |

Strength:
clean power , channels can be configured to fit ones needs , well made ,has smooth sound and fast response
Weakness:
none I have used this amp for about 5 months now and it has a great sound . As long as your using some good equipment with it. The 7106 is very smooth and has plenty of power when used with effecient speakers. I like the fact you can configure the channels to fit your needs . I didn't know how good it was until I changed my mains to Soliloquy 6.3 from deftec BP 20's . Not to take anything from deftecs they are great speakers but the Soliloquy is a better match giving more of a tube like sound which I like. Not to mention you must have a good front end , without this you will never know what you have ! If there is junk at the begining then there is junk at the end . This amp deserves the mcintosh name which stands for alot ! It doesn't take alot of power to get good sound just clean power . |
