The Musical Design D75b awesome performer for the $$$. Has no signifcant weaknesses. Very dynamic for 75 watts. Presents nice open picture with musicians placed across the sounstage. Clear, never bright though. Edges out my beloved Parasound for overall presentation by a margain though not as powerful. A steal for the price. |

Strength:
DETAIL,SOUNDSTAGE IS WIDE AND DEEP,INSTRUMENT PLACEMENT IS EXACTING, SO GOOD IT BRINGS OUT THE WEAKNESS' IN POOR RECORDINGS
Weakness:
NONE!IF YOU WANT TO BRING OUT EVERYTHING THE RECORDING HAS TO OFFER (GOOD OR BAD)THIS IS IT! LIKE MOST ENTHUSIASTS I HAVE HAD A LONG LINE OF EQUIPMENT IN SEARCH OF THE ULTIMATE SOUND EXPERIENCE. ALWAYS SEARCHING BECAUSE MY SYSTEMS LACKED SOMETHING. Similar Products Used: DYNACO, HAFLER, SANSUI, KENWOOD MONOBLOCKS,MUSICAL DESIGN MOD OF HAFLER, MUSICAL DESIGN D150 |

Weakness:
binding posts too close together Boy, i am pretty happy with this unit,,,Great slam for 75 watts. and they are upgradeable by Musical Concepts. I was amazed at the depth and control of kick drums. Cymbals could use a bit more energy though. Similar Products Used: adcoms, haflers,AMC, etc |

This amp just plain sounds good. It is everything that the literature says it is;unshakable, silky, detailed, solid soundstage etc.Bought it on the advise of someone who knows alot more than I do and the fact that I have one of their old Hafler kit Mods preamps from 13 years ago(klunky but sounds good). There are three versions-std,signature and platinum.Great parts, build and look. I have owned some good amps in the past-Proceed HPA,Eagle2c,Krell 250,Marantz M-700s, and this one just does more things right.I'm using a EAD Ovation,Snell E.5s,Denon DCD 1650,Musical Concepts phono stage,Oracle Alexandria table. |

Strength:
Nice airy, detailed presentation.
Weakness:
None Not many people have heard of Musical Design but if you're looking to get a solid state amp for around $1500 you can't go wrong with this. The company is based in St. Louis and started out as an amp modifing company and were so good at that they started making their own. I love this amp! I also have the SP2B tube preamp and I love that too. I recently sent it in to upgrade to the D150B and get new preamp tubes installed, all for $350. I can tell a noticable difference in detail and resolution. Experiencd audiophiles that I have talked to say this is the best amp in it's price range. |
