Strength:
Sheer power and loudness with 'no strain', Powerful and robust bass, friendly and hearthy sound
Weakness:
Bloated bass in wide bandwidth systems, leanish midband, not the most coherent across the frequency spectrum A fuity and hearthy sounding amp! Full of character, this is not an amp for neutral lovers. Loads of power with a slightly laid back perspective, it is suitable for head bangers although it is respectable enough for many other musical duties. I am using one to power the woofers of my two year old B&W 801s series 3. Threshold S500 covers the midrange and highs. Excellent combination. Usually these combinations out of the blue do not work. Excellent bass extension and control. Goes deeper than the Threshold (tested with sound level meters and Stereophile CD1). Got mine for $800 new on closeout. Very happy with it for the bass. BUT seriously outguned by the 3X as expensive Threshold on anything above 100Hz. For woofers I give it 4.5 stars and 2 stars for mids and higher. So the 3 stars below. |

I jsut bought kef reference #3 speakers along with kef center speaker model 200c. The sub woofer I use is the mirage 150i. I am looking for a quality amp to match these speakers - price range $500 to $1000US. I currently have a Harmon Kardon AVR 85 receiver for home theater use.Can someone suggest a few models for me to demo? |

I purchased my NAD 208thx on closeout, NIB for $700. I am completely happy with the purchase. I expected a significant improvement in dynamics and bass control compared to my integrated amp. I was suprised to also gain significant soundstage improvements. The upper octaves were also considerably sweeter. At its original list price of about $1600 I feel it has a great deal of competition; however, at $700 it is a steal. I am contemplating hunting down a mint condition second amp so I can bi-amp my speakers. |

I bought the NAD 208 THX in second hand.....I just have to say I did my lifes best buy! The amplifier if compared to 216thx, is smothe and silky in it´s response, without losing any sharpness and detail. There's one thing that all NAD have in common and it's the sharpness. But with 208THX you can clearly hear that it's going much higher in Frequency before it loses the linearity. The sound is what can I say, the most extraordiany you get for a price under $5.000, and 208thx was only $1500. I'm letting my Amp get lose on a pair of Canton Ergo's and it also have some power in it. So don´t think it´s just an Audiphile amp without any muscle. It's both clean sound and power. Perhaps it's because of the MOSFETs, as with tube amps some people like it some don't. |

"NAD". This is the name you won't resisted. Nad 208 THX is the Herculist. If you need power for your home theater, this is the amp for you. |
