I got this used at 250.00 and its great. I use it to run my rear speakers for home theater but I'm considering trying it for music to run my Energy c6 speakers. I'll then let my acurus 3 channel amp do my centers and rears. It all depends on sound quality.

very good amp drives my Klipsch Cornwall 2's very well. I am extremely happy with this amp, and don't see replacing it any time soon. the only problem with this amp is it has blown out a pair of Thiel CS2's, any on want to buy a pair of CS2's with blown tweeters and a blown woofer. If you find this amp at a good price get it.

Strength:

Great internal components for the price, reasonable build quality for the price, reliable, great addition to my studio rack system, and home theatre.

Weakness:

the gray love it/hate it looks, could have abit more slam on the bottom end.

The NAD 2400 Monitor Series was the premium line power amplifier with 100 watts a channel at 8 ohms. Bridged and at 4 ohms over 440 watts potential here. Bridged configuration is the way I run this amp. It is switched to 4 ohm load, and the patented "soft clipping" circuit engaged. The 2400 is connected to a HSU 12 subwoofer for my home theatre. This amplifier while no "Krell" still has enough moxie to produce decent amounts of clean well controlled bass. The soft clipping circuit does well here when the dynamics get very wide, and perhaps abit more than the 2400 would otherwise without soft clipping could handle. A very well thought out design. I am amazed at how well the 2400 has stood the test of time. I have heard moans and groans of NAD reliability. I must say that the 2400 has performed without a hitch. Its components inside are good quality, while I would have liked larger storage filter capacitors here to help give the bass more "oomph",but the NAD aquits itself quite well. I paid about $600.00 something dollars for it. It was initially my companion amplifier for the NAD 7400 that I have. Both bridged and tied in for stereo, they have plenty of reserve for my dynamic sources. I have the optional rack mount kit,so 19 inch rack mounting was a big boon of convience and organization . Playing my Jurasic Park videos, and my wide dynamic DVDs' make me appreciate the 2400s' design more and more. There are 2 sets of RCA connectors on the rear apron, with standard as well as "lab" connections that bypass the gain potentiometers. This would presumably give better sound. No worries about the distortion or tracking errors of the gain pots. I have really yet to try the LAB inputs, but nonetheless, the option is there. I have had the 2400 for amost 10 years and though its shortcomings are a abit thinly fleshed bass response, all the other concerns musically and dynamically are met with great satisfaction. You don't get the etch and glare of the "typical FAR EAST" amplifiers here. It is polite and easy sounding. I don't see replacing the 2400 anytime soon. It performs well enough for my needs now and for the forseeable future. This is a good buy used if you can get a good price. I am sure the other value leaders like the Rotel,Adcom,Parasound...and their ilk will attract the value conscious(as they should...) because they are great products without you going broke to buy and own them. New Nad gear continues to build good gear, but with the others out there,it is hard for me to be overly jaded here. All in all, the Nad products have served me well. I have a cd player, reciever, and the 2400 amplifier. None of which has seen time in a techs' shop. So with good sonics and good reliability,I am a pleased customer,so Nad gets my vote for the good sounds for the cheap seats price. V.C.

Bought this amp from a friend who salvaged it from a burned house. Faceplate and knobs were melted, but you should have seen the Philips CD player, Receiver, and VCR that were stacked next to it! This amp still works great! Beautiful, clean, detailed sound. It brought new life to all my music. It is in fact THX certified, and rightly so. Used with GAS Thalia preamp, Klipsch KG 1.5's.
