Strength:
Typical Naim characteristics: drive, energy, involvement (dare I say PRaT?). Seriously, this amp delivers a deeply satisfying experience. Have used with NAC62 and Flatcap, also with NAC32.5 and HiCAP. Weakness:
Requires the usual Naim ICs, so factor that in if pairing with non-Naim pre-amps. Purchased: New
Model Year: 1999

Strength:
PRaT, power, bass traction
Weakness:
Unforgiving of poor recordings. From a 140 to a 180, I expected little change beyond sheer power, but the 180 surprised me with a cleaner overall balance (perhaps a function of the increased power) with seemingly better fluidity with an increased sense of space. Obviously, the increased power allowed by Dynaudios to play that much louder and lower as well. Overall an outstanding amp that has more horsepower than the 60watt per channel would lead one to assume. Strength:
speed, timing, great bass grip
Weakness:
a little sharp on poor recordings as a frustrated non nap250 owner from way back this amp must be the next best thing. has all the typical and well documented naim strengths and built in power supply for the nac92r preamp i use. drum and bass or anything requiring real traction in the bottom end rocks through this thing. gives the little royd minstrel speakers one hell of a ride. probably wrong amp for the hifi wanabee brigade but those guys have serious head up arse issues anyway. and is there much of a difference between a 140 and this? you better believe it! try wonderful 'asleep at the back' album by ELBOW on v2 records and all will become clear. would i buy it again? o yes! made the supposedly world beating plinius 8150 sound slow, thick and dark as a black thing. you do wanna have fun right???
