I've had this amp for about a year now. I'm pushing a pair of b&w 7nt's with it. They are a great match. I love the sound, power and clarity that these amp's put out. I like them so much that i just purchased the amp 3 to push the other three channels of my HT setup.

This is a great amp for the money, especially if you can pick it up on the used market. I'm using these with my Eggleston Fontaines (with REL subwoofer) and they provide an amazing sense of power and image. They don't give up much ground to the much more expensive amplifiers and yet cost much much less. Unbeatable performance for the dollar.

Strength:

Very strong on the detail for both music and movie

Weakness:

Easy to have a humming when we do not place them appropriately

When in the first time I listened to Proceed AMP 2, I dis not feel a good impression. It is just similar with the half price Acurus. However, after one day listen to it, then back to my lovely Acurus, I was shock. It is big big different on the detail and clarity produced by Proceed. Proceed Amp 2 is the 2 channel amplifier that I recommend for the people who look for the sound quality for both music and movie.

Strength:

Transparency, ability to open up and let the music flow, good depth.

Weakness:

Some noise although I feel this to be inconsequential.

A followup to my views in 1999 is that I STILL feel this amp to be one of the best for under $2K but alas, is no longer available. I plan on keeping this one for a long time.
The noise I alluded to is apparently caused by a cable TV hookup which messes with the ground scheme of the amp and other components in the chain. (Different ground potentials) After using an isolation transformer to break the loop, the noise is now at very low levels and can live with it. It cost all of $15 and I would recommend it to anyone having hum /noise problems with their system hooked up to cable.
Anyway I feel the Proceed to be an excellent product from a company who I feel knows good sound. Incidentally, a friend of mine has compared the Amp 2 to the more expensive Mark Levinson "300" series amplifiers and he feels that the difference in price may be questionable as far as
performance is concerned. But that's one person's opinion.

As a followup, the AMP 2 is STILL available. I had thought it was discontinued for the newer BPA series. My apologies.

Strength:

effortless presentation, smooth & easy to listen, holographic soundstage, easy to live with (weight, size, electricity consumtion, heat, etc.)

Weakness:

bass somewhat soft, does not have best S/N

In sum, this is a great amp especially considering current used price.

My speakers are Sonus Grand Piano Homes. Initially, I matched Krell 300i to them. But I could not tolerate 300i's metalic sound more than two months. Then I switched to KT88 tube integrated. Better in terms of timbre, but the power was not enough.

When I bought Proceed Amp2. Frankly, I did't expect much given experience with Krell 300i. But I was totally wrong. Even though the watt number almost same, there is simply no comparison in ability to push out the music. Also, with Amp2, you can crank up the volume as you want without any noticeable compression or any other unpleasant effect. That was not the case with Krell 300i. The sound is also smoother than the tube gear I used. At the same time, very detailed and transparent.

The only weakness I discovered so far is bass. The attacks from Drums, etc. is a little soft. But I don't care much for bass. I think I can live with it.

Finally, another important factor to me was its very high input impedance (100kohm, unbalanced). So it works great with my passive preamp (Creek OBH-12).

Associated equipment.

Stello CDP (local make)
Creek OBH-12 (passive remote volume control)
Proceed Amp2
Sonus Grand Piano Home
Cables are mainly silvers.

Have had the AMP 2 for about 3 months and think it may be one of the best forunder 2K. Very clear and transparent. I'm using it with an Aragon preamp and
B&W 804 speakers.

This is one very good amplifier! I have had this amp for about 2 years and decided it was time to upgrade. I borrowed a Mark Levinson No. 334 ($6000) and an Audio Research VT100 Mk2 ($5000) this weekend to perform an in-house test. After listening to both these amps I tried my old amp. Guess what! I couldn't hear much of difference (if any). As you probably guessed, I will not be upgrading my amp.
My system:
Linn Sondek/Ekos/Troika (record player),
Theta Digital Data Basic II (CD transport),
Theta Digital DS ProBasic IIIa (DAC),
Pink Triangle Pip II (pre-amplifier),
Madrigal AMP2 (power-amplifier),
Martin Logan SL-3 (speakers),
Transparent Music Link Super (from DAC to pre-amp to power-amp)
Transparent Music Wave Super (speaker cables),
Black Diamond Racing Cones (CD transport legs).

What is surprising is that the (10 feet) speaker cables and interconnects together cost more than the power amp.
