Components used.
Pre amp Yamaha RXV-2095
Power amp Rotel RMB-1095
Main Speakers B&W DM 603 S2
Centre Speaker B&W CC6 S2
Rear Speakers B&W CCM 80
Subwoofer Mirage

The amp still needs to be broken in but even out of the box it was apparent that this is a quality piece of HiFi gear.
I always thought that the yamaha receiver sounded good and was very happy with the system but the change to the Rotel amp has given the system an instant quality boost.
The sound is more open ,dynamic and controlled.
Soundstage is bigger.Brightness that was evident with the yamaha has disappeared and now has a smooth sound which gives you the impression of low volume. Don`t be fooled this amp has plenty of power (200x5) and can make the walls shake.

The extra power is instantly evident in hometheatre as during periods of high demand the sound comes through as very controlled and dynamic, giving the impression of plenty in reserve. Effects are positioned with accuracy around the room. Now hearing details in sound which I didn`t know were there.

For $3000.00 australian in wasn`t cheap but worth every cent.
I Don`t believe that it`s worth spending thousands more for some of the supposedly higher end brands .
Do yourself a favour and listen to the rotel first .

No Auto On

I decided on the Rotel after auditioning amps from Anthem,Denon and Adcom. The Rotel sounded the best by far. It can be difficult to decide since most good audio shops have only the best gear hooked up. If you get a good dealer they will definately work with you. This was my first move to separates. I am currently running the amp through an Onkyo Digital Receiver and the improvement in sound is amazing. No more hiss or hum, just clean powerful sound. Bass extension is great. Music is just so much better to listen to and movies are unbelievable! I watched the F1 race today and it was like I was there. My next move is to purchase the RSP985 PrePro and tdo upgrade my interconnects. Then it will be on to Rotel's DVD player and B&W CDM SE speakers all around.

Onkyo TX-D656 Digital Receiver
Rotel RMB 1095
Sony S300 DVD

Anyone currrently using Rotel products got any suggestions on interconnects?

RAW Power!, Looks, Bal/UnBalance Hook up, Cool Running, Highly underated, casters, Warning lights

Weakness:

Power Cord, Only 2 Casters, Extra work due to the need to keep vaccuming up WINDOW PUTTY that rattles loose. ;)

First the bad news, Rotels power cords for some reason fit VERY loosley into the power source, mine have almost come undone moving the line conditioner a little, could be disasterous.
O.K. This is One BIG BAD BLACK MAMA!! Once I saw and heard this I HAD to have it. No more watts for me, its KILOWATTS now Baby! If Macho is your style this is it. In its review it put out a total of -OVER- 2 KILOWATTS into 2 ohms in stereo mode on 2 fronts sp. Its massive size and weight (75lbs) make it difficult to find a home for it. Too heavy for my racks, too tall to slide under. But it sure makes a good conversation piece when not doing WATT it does BEST, Crank out power w/ Beautiful Sound and Clarity. I was knocked out of my seat when I turned this on at home.
From CD's-classical, rock, country, acoustics, vocals, etc. to Home Theater-VHS or DVD, this thing makes everything sound better and LOUDER. I am going thru all my old CD's because they all sound New again, and hearing things I never heard before. VHS is putting out the sound one would expect only from DVD. I was amazed at what is capapble thru VHS w/ the right componants.
No need for another Amp, this takes care of all 5 channels w/ ease. To make this thing heat up your ears would have to Bleed First! It is PURE pleasure to listen to. I have maxed out the volume and could not hear any distortion. Its a dream come true, Thank you Rotel. This all at a price most anyone can afford. Once it is home your money will not be missed, well worth the investment.
MSRP $2000 Paid $1500
PS. Rotel, Please send more Window Putty, my windows keep rattling out!!!

Powerful, Solid Construction, Good Soundstage, Heavy Duty Casters

This power amp is awesome. Of course that is a personal preference statement, and others may object, but I am so happy with mine, I would not trade it for anything. After listening to it effortlessly power Martin Logans at the store, I brought it home to try on my B&W's. Man did it make them sound nice. This is a great amplifier/speaker combination for anyone looking. What you get for your dollar is unbelievable. The soundstage is impresssive, and so is the tonal balance. There is more than enough high current power to run even the toughest of loads. This amp retails at $2000, and to get something appreciably better, you would have to spend at least $5000.

Strength:

Confidence, Control, Strong, HARD-HITTING, Nice power.

Weakness:

Heavy - Carrying it is an experience, but it's worth it.

This amp simply does everything you expect an amp to do. It holds nothing back. I found it easy to listen too. My range of music varies from Jazz to Rap to New Age and it does it all extremely well. I listened to several 5 channell amps including Sony's ES series, Marantz, Sunfire and Yamaha. The only one that came close was the yamaha, and it was 500.00 more in price. Mucho quality for the $$$$.

Strength:

Large soundstage. Incredible dynamics, punch, and clarity yet warm and sweet sounding as well.

Weakness:

Not for those who want a laid back sound.

This amp does it all for me. It produces an uncompromising sound quality at price that is a steal ($2000 retail $1800 found locally). Huge soundstage but never artificial. Very sonically accurate with great dynamics but never harsh sounding on my ears. The amp has a very beefy, muscular sound to it but is warm, sweet, and inviting as well. Stereo never sounded better on a home theater amp. Very musical unlike others in it's price range, and very unusual for a THX certified amp - a great achievement.

My current setup is as follows:

Rotel RMB-1095
Lexicon MC-1
Sony DVP-7700
Sony WEGA 36XBR250
Paradigm Reference Studio 100 V2's for stereo fronts, Reference CC, servo-15 and reference bipolars.
Audioquest Indigo speaker cable and Ruby interconnects.

I originally had a Sunfire Cinema Grand in this setup, but after critical auditioning I felt the amp had no soundstage and had a very soft sound to it. A very dull sounding amp overall with no real "oomph" to it. It was a well constructed product that had clean, loud volume at your disposal, but that's about it. I was starting to question if other components were to blame until I put the Rotel unit in. What a difference! Just an exciting experience that makes me want to watch DVD's and listen to music all day.

Before any audiophile forks out the big cash for Proceed, Krell, Theta, or Bryston home theater amps, you must give the Rotel RMB-1095 an audition. You'll thank me later and use the saved money towards the purchase of hundreds of DVDs and CD recordings that you will embrace listening to on this joy of an amp!

Strength:

Price, power, aesthetics and now a remote trigger!

Weakness:

Weight, but who cares, it has wheels!

Components used in this review are as follows:

Denon AVR-3300 (now used as a pre-amp & rear channel amp)
Rotel RMB-1095 Amp
B&W 1SE Fronts
B&W CNT Center
Sunfire MKII Sub
RCA rears
Pioneer DV-C302D DVD
MIT T-2 Bi-Wire and Interconnects
Monster Power HTS-5000
Philips Pronto Remote

Before purchasing the RMB-1095, I had two choices to try to improve the sound stage of my home theater. Either I could buy the larger B&W 9NT or try to work with my existing speaker system by increasing the amplification. I knew that the AVR-3300 wasn't truely working the 1SEs. After reading an article that had reviewed the 1SEs with a 300 watt amp, the writer stated that the 1SE really opened up with the extra amplification. So after reading all the wonderful reviews in Audio Review regarding the RMB-1095, I decided to go with the amp.

It peformed better than I could have imagined! Not only has it opened my sound stage to it's maximum, I didn't need to take a second mortgage on the house. The sound from the 1SEs are now so full and layered. I still will eventually purchase the 9NT so that the 1SE could replace the cheap RCA rears, but now I'm in no hurry.

Rotel has done an awesome job of designing this amp. It has wheels to help move this beast around, provided 3 different types of inputs and now has a 12v remote trigger. It should have been a no-brainer to have included the trigger originally. I wonder if Rotel reads Audio Review?

RECOMMENDATION: Run at least one seperate circuit for your HT! I ran two seperate 20 amp circuits - 1 for the amp and 1 for everything else. It is well worth $90 ($50 of which were in the receptacles).

Strength:

Awesome delivery, lots of spare power, and just plain great sound

Weakness:

I probably could enjoy it more with larger speakers, very heavy, overall no weakness at all

Sometimes I feel like the luckiest guy alive. My audio dealer has a trade in program and I was able to sample my way up the ladder. I had the RMB-985MKII for 6 months and I really liked it but traded it in for the RMB-1095, not becuase I wanted to but because I could.

Does it sound good?

This weekend my father came to visit me, he is 74 years old. He loves classical music. I sat him down and played some pieces for him. I had it cranked. Tears came to his eyes. I think he could have spent the whole weekend listening to my stereo. He now wants to come back with his own collection.

Enough said?

As for home theatre, I had imediatly began to hear small sounds that I had not heard in movies before. Great balance with little effort.

I could go on and on about how great this amp sounds but I would really suggest that you hear for yourself. Oh and make sure you bring a friend along to help carry it.

This is an addendum to my previous review. Having used the Amp a bit more I have a few more additions to make to my previous review.

I made a comment it being slightly bright ( i wasn't sure if this was down to the Amp or my QED connect 4S interconnects). Well I can report back that it is down to the the interconnects, i tried it with Audioquest Ruby as I'd seen a review on this site suggesting a good patnership and i noticed immediate improvements. Brightness gone!. However, it was when I tried the "QED Qnect silver spiral" that i found my dream patnership.

The sound now to me is completely fine. Lots of detail, solid better and now a fine top end. Female voices are fantastic.

Folks, don't get me wrong, I am not even suggesting this is the best amp in the world. I am asking that anyone looking to spend more that $1800 (£1000) give this a listen. I am convinced that a lot of you will end up with the Rotel.
