Strength:
Warm, strong current with deep bass capabilities. Another Stereophihle Class A component from Sonic Frontiers!!!
Weakness:
Anyone who place 4 undeserving reviews on this amp!!!! It really upsets me when someone places 4 different reviews of the same amplifier with 4 different ratings. This is not a forum for that type of BS. Similar Products Used: Audio Research VT-100 MkII, Audio Research CA-50, Classe CA-300 |

I have recently purchased a Power 2. First off, the amp is huge and heavy! Unpack this baby on a Saturday or when you've got an afternoon. (The manual is actually very well written). The amp is very well packaged and the build quality and workmanship of the amp is superior. Once you have it set up the sound is just unbelievable! You notice it right off the bat, even before the amp is broken in (Sonic Frontier suggests 75-80 hours). If it sounds this good now, I'm really looking forward to the 80 hour mark. (I know it will be gradual though). I have never heard anything like this amp. This amp is very rich sounding and on music I am familar with I have noticed real enhancement. It has a lot of authority. I am using the amp with a Line 2 preamp (purchased about a month ago) and what a difference it made in my system. The preamp really opened up everything but adding the Power 2 really gave the sound a lot more depth. The realism on instruments is very very rich. The amp really brought the system together. This amp has lots of bass and is very controlled and tight. If you are in the market for high-end tube equipment, in my opinion Sonic Frontier Line 2 and Power 2 is definately the way to go. I think Sonic Frontier did top notch engineering this amp and preamp. I'm very very happy with this product. In my books, this amp is definately at the top of the rating scale. |
