The black amp doesn't come w/ a black remote, it comes w/ a silver remote Phono stage is $60 more I have this integrated amp paired with my JM Labs Chorus 710 speakers. They compliment each other perfectly. Acoustic instruments have stunning detail and presence. All around, this amp is very musical. Similar Products Used: Arcam a65+ Rega Mira |

Strength:
Good sound, construction, value.
Weakness:
Speaker binding posts could be true 5 way and accept spades. I purchased the Cambridge 640 A with very little knowledge of the brand. My 9 year old integrated decided to periodically cut out the left channel. Since I had not planned on the expense of new electronics I tried the Cambridge due to price and the reviews I had read. This integrated amp is excellent. Much better than I had hoped for the money. Bass is strong and well controlled. Highs are smooth and detailed. Singers have more of their vocal tones and body. Excuse the term but everything is more musical. Complex music that had been difficult to enjoy is now more accesible. I paid $500 for my 9 year old integrated in 1996. $500 buys a lot more amp these days. Similar Products Used: Rotel RA 970BX |

Strength:
Musical, clear sound (warm not cold),good highs and mids.Low better than CA A500. Enough current. Solid protection system. For this price - unbeatable.
Weakness:
Speaker terminal, volume adjustment at low levels - feels like there is some step from silent to higher volume. Then in stanby, power led could be anoying (in the night) Very musical amplifier. Previuos I used CA A500 for 2 years and I was happy.Azur 640A look solid, play solid. I only changed rear speaker terminals - originaly they are weak and a litle to plastic. Found that a little hard to make small volume adjustments at low volumes especialy with remote.(night listening).Changed small Vishay capasitors to larger - deeper and more controlable bass. Overal I'm satisfied. Similar Products Used: CA A500, Sony STR-515; Yamaha, Denon. |

Strength:
Average performance with all kind of music
Weakness:
large remote strange piano sound Overall comment is satisfactory. Human voice in cds is very distinct after switched into this amplifier. previously I was using a rogers amplifier. However, piano sound is a bit.. tight, not quite usual, may be just my personal perference. The remote is a bit too large , and, not some buttons are useless. Similar Products Used: rogers SAE onix |

Unbeatable at this price. Build Quality Looks
Weakness:
None really. Cambridge Audio have really outdone themselves with the release of the Azur 640a Integrated Amp. I previously used the Denon AVR-3803 as my 2ch amp, but after taking the advice found on many forums on the Web about there relative lack of performance in this field compared to dedicated 2ch amps, I took the plunge and bought this amp. I can say right off that I couldn't be happier. This amp creates a spaciousness to the sounstage that I could only dream of. The detail, especially in the highs is astounding. Music that I thought I new really well has had new life breathed into it by this amp. I would never have believed just how many nuances and fine details that I was missing in the music before I added this amp. I also have this unit integrated into my HT rig and I must say that the Fronts have never sounded so good. There is a real sense of effortless drive behind them now, where before they sounded quite flat (by comparison) with the standard Denon 3803 Av receiver driving them. To sum up, the Azur 640a would have to be one of the best hifi bargains at the moment. If you find yourself in the position where you have audiphile sensibilities but a penny-pincher's pocket, you just can't go passed the Azur 640A. BTW, the price I paid is in Australian dollars.
