Strength:

Build, clarity and beautiful soundstage. Wonderful transients and midrange.

Weakness:

Remote functions - Great remote, however, it would be nice if it offered additional functions.

Stumbled on this Classe CAP100, not to be confused with the CAP101, CAP151 etc., on Audio Review classifieds. This original unit is far superior to the subsequent revisions,
and deserves the higest acclaim.

It is a wonderful unit, with impressive build, looks and most of all sound. The bass is low and tight, highs are clear and not overly bright, and then you have the mids - simply sweet.

My main system consists of a McCormack DNA 0.5 Deluxe Rev A and an Anthem Pre 1 - This Classe integrated can hold it's own in comparison.

If you can find one, get it! You will not be disappointed. If you are, e-mail me. I will make you an offer.

Strength:

Tremendous soundstage, open and detailed sound, full bass, sharp midrange, and glistening highend, and ease of use and setup

Weakness:

None

This has to be one of the best sounding integrated amps out there! Used with the right interconnects and lines, this amp produces a very sweet sound that is difficult to describe. Clear, defined, warm, and unclutterred, this amp presents a broad soundstage that creates a lively, rather than sterile field that some amps produce. Vocals soar, cymbals glisten, and strings penetrate......this amp reproduces all sources as they recorded. Good sources sound breath-taking, bad sources sound.....well, bad.
Drives all loads admirably, and is very listenable without the fatigue associated with some amps. Although this amp has been discontinued for a couple of years, its sound is still better than even Classe's own "newer" models.
Sorry if this review sounds overly enthusiastic, but after owning and listening to LOTS of various (25 years of audio sales) it's hard not to be!!
There are better sounding integrateds out there, but you'd have to pay 2 to 5 times more, and even then, they are only "subjectively" better at best. Give this one a listen if you can find it!!!
