Strength:
I actually have the PMA 6.5, but there is nowhere to review it. This is a great amplifier full stop. It's better than my other mini Denon from the F10 series. There's real quality on offer here, regardless of form factor. This really shines with my Mission 751s and provides the spatial qualities of the best full size separates. Supposedly these sold for $500 in the 90s, but I can't qualify that statement. Possibly a bit overpriced if true, but this just adds to the mystique of these cool little systems. All the Denon mini stuff I've picked up in the last few years has needed a lot of internal cleaning, so proceed with caution. If you find a clean one though, don't hesitate. Weakness:
Most examples will now be fairly tired and need repairs. A lot of these systems were probably in the hands of people who bought them 'because they could' and allowed them to collect a lot of dust. Purchased: Used

This little amp is simply incredible! When I say little, I mean SMALL. It's only about 10" wide, 14" deep, and it weighs 14 lbs. (4 lbs. heavier than Creek 4330). The only amp smaller may be the Musical Fidelity X-A1. This amp is the centerpiece of Denon's audiophile mini-system, the Point Component System. When used in this system, it acts as the pre-main amplifier while a separate power amp (POA-7.5) and Dolby Pro Logic preamp (AVP-7.5) are connected. However, as a stand alone integrated amp (yes, it does have its own power amp and pre amp sections), it is a ridiculous overchiever for the price. |
