Strength:

Dual power supplies
Direct coupled
Silver face- not another black box
Available rack mount handles
60 very clean watts per channel with good headroom
Switching for stereo, mono, reverse stereo
2-stage loudness contour switch
Tone control bypass switch
Switching at the source for short wire runs
Discrete power transistors

Weakness:

Weird screw-down speaker terminals that don't accept dual banana plugs
No preamp out/power in jacks

I got my KA7100 cheap because it had been dropped HARD and was bent and
gouged up...but what a sound! Dual power supplies, direct coupled amp, discrete
Toshiba output transistors, dual output capacitors per channel, switching at the
source to minimize wire runs - THIS THING WAS BUILT! I now know why so
many people prize these Kenwood integrateds.
This model was 3rd from the top of the line, but with 60 wpc @ 8 ohms with less
than .02% THD very few modern units can compete. This beast makes my Polk
Monitor 4 speakers sound like powerhouses and a lot cleaner than I thought they
were capable of. That's the mark of a great amp - it makes the rest of the system
sound better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
