Strength:

Detail, resolution, imaging, all together sound. gets out offr the way of the music

Weakness:

People who do not know how to combine it properly to other equipment

this amp is amazing. many people who do not like it simply do not understand its properties, and have not taken the time to truely audition the amplifier on a worthy system. Ny advise, if you would like the amp do not combine it with subpar components, just so you can say " I have a krell." Match it up with good equipment.

Strength:

The Krell name. Build quality. Cosmetics

Weakness:

You do not get value for your money. Much better amps are available for the same price

The Krell is too analytical for my taste. It reproduces music with accuracy but with no soul. It does not transmit the emotion that goes along with the music, which is important to me. I think the Bryston B60R is a better option for many reasons. The Bryston is both accurate and musical at the same time. The Bryston has the option of pre-out, power in, which makes it great for home theatre applications as well. The Bryston is a lot more affordable than the Krell. The Bryston B60R beets the pants off many separates that I have heard that cost over $4,500. The Bryston remote is made out of a solid block of aluminium, the most sturdy remote I have ever encountered. With Bryston you get a 20-year transferable warranty which is way more than what you get with the Krell. I agree with the posting of Sherif, that you can spend less and get more with the Bryston. The advantages that the Krell has over the Bryston B60R is more power and it takes balanced interconnects. The Krell also needs a shorter break-in time than the Bryston. You need at least 3 to 4 months of running the Bryston at around 2 to 3 hours a day, before it hits its optimum performance levels. After using both the Bryston and the Krell for over a year, I have given the the Krell to my son for his bedroom while the Bryston will retain its place in my dedicated listening room. Whether you go with the Bryston or the Krell, try them out with Analysis Plus interconnects and speaker cables. You will really optimize the potential of both these integrated amps.

Transparency,Clarity,Headroom. What the Hell.It's Krell,it's swell!

Weakness:

None

This amp had less than fifty hours on it and it was just too good a deal to pass up.
Impressive is its exacting nature of definition.I can now hear what the sound engineer was doing with the recording.
My listening tastes is everything except country&western and this amp excells at all.
I know that it is critical of the components in its signal path and unforgiving of faults. It Does Not however make these faults outstanding. This is an honest amplifier.
If you can audition one please do so as it's YOUR ears that are the most important. The sound, design and build quality are Krell and though they have become an American Audiophile Institution, this reputation is well earned through their years of evolution.

Bottom Line:
Try This Amp
If you find a deal,Don't hesitate,Buy This Amp
It will always hold its value in the market,
and very likely your heart.

Strength:

detail, soundstage, realism

Weakness:

none in my system

Let me just begin by saying that this amp is absolutely amazing. It has so much sonic integrity that I cannot even comprehend it. While listening to a trance CD last night, which includes a beat with many odd sounds, my roomate kept hearing things that he was sure was coming from outside or upstairs, that is until I hit review and played things again. Many people underestimate how truely incredible this amp can be with the right associated equipment.

My system includes:
Krell 300i
Martin Logan Aerius i
Rotel 951 cd
audioquest and alpha core cables

Weakness:

Nothing at all.

David, if ears are those things on the sides of your head (approximately same hight as the eyes), then I don't understand what you are getting at. Maybe the people at Krell have done something very bad to you? But here's to everyone who thinks David's review is of any value:
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Clearly this person has something far worse on his mind then giving an honest en fundamented opinion about an endlessly beautifull sounding amplifier. There is no chance in hell you could give this amp a one star rating. Listen to it yourselves and you'll know what I'm talking about here! Because in the end that's the only thing that counts: what does YOUR EAR tell you....

Strength:

Great resolution and soundstage, fine deeeeep bass and outstanding upper / midband

Weakness:

volume control not sensitive enough for low volume listening

I love this Amp. I've always liked the Krell "House Sound" since I heard one many years ago. I've never been able to afford one until I saw this one second hand and could not resist.

My main system is Electrocompanier ECM1 Reference CD player with B&W CDM 7NT, Tara Labs and MIT cables. Home cinema is controlled by Lexicon DC1. The Krell's "HomeTheaterThroughput" feature means I can controll the 300i power amp stage directly from the Lexicon. This was a surprise added feature and saved me lots of problems. Lovely!

With the 300iL out now the prices for these beuts will fall - so now is a good time to buy. Go buy one!

Strength:

Powerful, detailed, full range resolution, over all speed is fast, affordable price, slim chasis, charming blue LED, having BAL input, high end sound quality is comparable to seperate pre/power combos.

Weakness:

No phono stage, Krell used to make the very good phono amp. May be the bass attack is not soild enough & deep enough (only when compare with some high end pre/power amp combo. May be the sound is a bit analaytic without being smooth & juicy & lubrication on mid range.

I was in shock for the sound heard in a Hi Fi store when they demostrated their Mark Levinson 380 pre and 331 power amp driving a pair of Revel F30 speaker. When this little slim Krell integrated amp was switched to replace the Mark. The sound was just about as good(may be different sonic charater between Mark & Krell). All the concrete soundstage & powerful drving power remain unchanged. Sound was not harsh or bright at all as I wonder why some reviewers would felt that way. Sound was very detailed provided that the power kept the sound stage wide open & stable even when the high level attack sound came. The treble is absolutely detailed & extended but not bright. The vocal is not bright at all even when the female vocal sang on her highest key. People posting negative reviews may not have the corresponding high-resoultion gears. When I lift it up, oops, it was even lighter than my ARC preamp. How could this little, light monster drive F30 like the descrete Mark amps ?? I guess you can never hear such punchy dynamic on the other integrated amps.

Of course the over all dynamic is not fully comparable to my ARC pre + 8 pcs 6550s monoblock, but consider the price of US$1400 and forget about its entry level look then you may ask your self ..... What is the point of having all this big machines(pre samp & power amp), all these expensive interconnect cable, and the amount you spent on consuming electricity every month(because I use tube amp & some other may use Class A ss amp).

Trust me ! Go to listen one set, you don't have to buy it but it will tell you how unmeasurable this high-end stereo world is, in term of price vs. performance.

Strength:

Sound quality here is awsome. Bass, power,Dynamics.

Weakness:

You would half to be pretty picky to bust this ones balls.

You want an audiophile AMP you have one.
Rated Class A (in sound not amplifier design) by Stereophile. I have had it hooked up to Martin Logan Request's,Magnapan Planar 25's Klipsch KG 3.1's,& Klipsch KLF 30's.The Magnapan speakers are verry inefficient compared to the Klipsch KLF 30's. 84db 1watt 1meter 4homs For the Magnapans & 102db 1watt 1 meter 8homs for the klipsch. It plays both verry well. If you want a solid state AMP you must listen to the Krell. You truly get all of what Krell is about in this AMP.
