This is a pretty good amp with lots of midband although it could do with some more control. It has far to many buttons and switches though and doesn't exactly look minimalist (even a loudness button! - audiophiles are cowering in the corner). One obvious problem is the amount of transformer hum which is much louder even than the CD67SE and makes it sound like a fridge, a problem which Tannoy/Marantz UK are well aware of but think it isn't really much of a problem. |

Strength:
Clean sound, works well B&W 602 speakers. Phono stage.
Weakness:
Don't like the remote In my mind the mix of performance, features (decent built in phono stage), and price gave this unit a slight edge over the NAD 340 (a very good product, though). I can really push my B&W 602s with this unit and so far they seem to work well together. Similar Products Used: NAD 340 |

Strength:
Everthing else.
Weakness:
Bass, it could have more bass. It is a good amplifier for the money. Similar Products Used: Nad |

Strength:
bass is deep, super clear mid-range and clean treble more for soft music but it also can drive hard if you want.
Weakness:
need to cranking due to low gain I used it with a pair of AE-105se floorstnder spk, Sony active sub SA-W505 and accompany an Philips CD player. Although it's 50WPC but its really powerful you can hear almost everything that what a CD actually record.I found this Marantz cleaner and more forceful than the Rotel model RA-931mkII which tend to sound bright and harsh when play loud. When i play the "chai qing's Lau ge"-"ci ci de den" its sound really really sweets.....I highly recommend this PM-57 amp which you can gain more than you paid.
