Strength:

The Marantz PM6010OSE that I purchased has a soft open sound with clear bass and excellent timing from the treble and mid range. Also includes an excellent multi-function remote whichis able to control other connected Marantz products. The Maranzt produces a very clear open sound and a bargain for the £160 (UKP) I paid for it.

Weakness:

With my old Technics SLPG-490 CD player the sound was a little bright and whilst this was excellent with Classical Music, it lacked the proper bass depth I like for my dance music collection. However, I upgraded the CD player to a Marantz CC-3000 and the bass is now taught and the timing is excellent. Make sure you match components carefully for the best sound.

My old Cambridge Audio A4 amp was good value for money at the time, but I was annoyed at the lack of a remote and the slight buzzing the amp made when there was no CD being played and the Cambrige was still on.

However, I am happy to say that the Marantz PM6010OSE that I purchased to replace the Cambridge Audio has blown the A4 out of the water. First of all because it has an excellent remote and the styling of the very sturdily constructed Amp is excellent. Secondly, as I mentioned earlir, the sound quality is surperb at the price.

If you are a fan of the Marantz sound then buy this Amp now. It is excellent value for money.

Looks, Build, Sound

Weakness:

Nothing of note

I have only been using the amp for a week now but already it has opened up considerably. Sound is very smooth with good crisp treble that dosen`t tire. Vocals and mid range are open and transparent. Bass is good and taught without being overblown. You tend to get the feeling that this is the way the music is supposed to sound with the absence of any tone controls or loudness button. I am currently using a Tecnics SLPG490a CD which isn`t bringing out the best in the amp (due for replacment very soon) but it still produces the goods very well

Strength:

Pretty much everything!

Weakness:

None!

I'm really satisfied! The highs sounds just great, and the design is so smooth! I'm using the 6010 OSE together with a Marantz CD 6000 OSE Limited Edition and B&W DM 602 S2, and I can't imagine a better buy around $1500!!

Strength:

Great stereo imaging, strong vocals and neutral. Not to mention excellent built quailty.

Weakness:

Needs careful system matching else the system may sound edgy and boomy

Able to produce very good vocals, strong sense of occassion. Bass is controlled ansd well defined. Treble is clear and accurate, midrange is average.

One thing to take note, choose the speakers carefully. My experience is that Tannoys speakers works best with this AMP, put them together, you get a very good sounding machine.

Build quality is top-notch at this price point and it look impressively great. Marantz is too experienced to produce a flaw product.

This AMP is a great bargain, get it and you will not regret.

Strength:

Good transparence,Finesse appreciated,Punch and good style

Weakness:

A little thin, a lack of micro détails .Middle-bass and high-middle dominate for better voice.

The first quality , i have liked, is a good balance slighty forward down, typicly marantz production, that is means that the sound isn't tiring in the treble. While it was warmth and with a lot punch in the bass (unlike first generation PM66se).The sound is enjoyable, and easy to hear, articuled, the transparance hold a good level for 230£.Furthermore there is a Tridimensional sound with Tannoy m2.5 and B&W CDM1 SE.OK !I would like more détails but in fact it's very coherent.

Strength:

Clear vocals, tight & controlled bass, good separation of music for the money, seamless midrange and soundstage.

Weakness:

Do not match with other components that bright sounding. Especially speakers, interconnects and cables.

I started into hi-fi when I won a Marantz CD63-KI Signature along with a Van Den Hull - The First interconnects through a Hi-Fi competition. The obvious route to take was to find an amplifier to match the cd player. Since both the Cd player and the interconnects are forward and neutral sounding, I need a sweet, detail and big sounding amp in order to match/balance the system. And a few amp goes down my lists of potential purchase. And among the ones that I've tested, the Marantz came out with flying colours. Together with a pair of Audio Pro Black Pearl speakers, I've managed to neutralised the bright sounding sound of the amp. In fact got more in return. With an addition of QED silver anniversary biwire, I managed to get a sytem, which sounded close to a system costs twice the price. And believe me I've made the comparisons. Furthermore it will outgrow till you go for your next upgrade. Want a better amp for a similar system to match, get the PM-17 KI Signature.
