I listened to amps for over a month before chosing the MI 120. Everything else I listened to in this price range, needed to be bi-amped to sound as good as the Myryad sounds bi-wired.
Although it certainly doesn't get a lot of press here in the states, the MI 120 is gorgeous to look at, solidly build (gold speaker post, for example), and a spot on performer sonically.

When partnered with the right equipment (I have a Cambridge Audio CD4SE player, MSB Link DAC, the SCE Harmonic Recovery System [which is a really magical little box everyone should investigate; it makes CD's sound better than you ever imagined possible], Meadowlark Hot Rod Kestral speakers, Nordost Solar Wind cables and interconnects) and running bi-wired speakers, you won't hear even a hint of British brittleness from this puppy -- just magical music, with bags of power always in reserve and ready for action when the recording dynamics call for it.

I highly recommend it for anyone who listens to more than one type of music and who desires a reasonably priced, effortlessly powerful, highly rhythmic, and open and accurate sounding integrated at the heart of their system.

I am a recent "audio enthusiast" in terms of systems, but a big-time music listener for many years. While I am no audiophile, I did, however, do a lot of research before buying (both reading and listening) and can comment on my new integrated amplifier. First, I bought an integrated for two reasons: space limitations in my apartment and my budget, under $1000 for amplification.
I recently purchased a Myryad MI-120 integrated amplifier and am most pleased with it. I shopped around quite a bit and listened to several other integrated's, albeit some a little less expensive (SRP) than the one I settled on. I listened to the NAD 340, the Arcam Alpha 7, Arcam Alpha 8, the Creek 5350, Marantz (forget model, 95 wpc one) and the Jolida 302A. To me, the Myryad has a very balanced sound that presented the music equally with the vocals. "Neutral" might be the word. I thought the Jolida a bit warm for my tastes, although others on this site have raved about it. When I listened to the Creek, the vocals tended to overwhelm the music, and when I listened to the NAD, the details were not as clear as on the Myryad (altough there was a great "oomph" with the NAD; and my test with the Myryad amp was paired with a superior CD player than with the other amps here). While I believe all of the amps I listened to are quite worthy, I settled on the Myryad because of sound, construction, looks and price. I got a great deal due to the recent change in North American distributors Myryad is using.

Myryad has only been around for four years now, but if you are uncertain, they are founded by a former exec at NAD and Arcam, so there is some history behind this company. The MI-120 is rated at 60 wpc, but I read reviews where this is a "conservative" rating. It sounds it, too. This amp can easily drive my Vandersteen floorstanding 1C's and I need not turn the volume past 10 'oclock to fill my average-sized living room with clean music, no matter how hard the music (and my tastes run to alternative rock, acid jazz, trip-hop and funk and soul). The controls are spartan, with nothing wasted on treble, bass, balance, etc., but there is a headphone jack, which is key for me and my Sennheiser RS6 headphones. The unit is heavy, and looks fantastic. The MI-120 comes with a remote control, and it is a basic plastic piece with few buttons (to match the console). The rear of the unit has five-way gold-plated binding posts, for those who require such, and is bi-ampable, altough tests by "What Hi-Fi?" have indicated that the value-added of bi-amping the MI-120 with the sister power amplifier are not really worth it. There is also a connection in the rear ("my link") that connects the remote functions of the integrated amplifier with other Myryad electronics. An overrated feature that is nothing to write home about.

I have paired my integrated amp with Myryad's MC-100 CD player and together, they sound great. The CD player is quite good. My speakers are Vandersteen 1C's, which provide the warmth I was looking for in my system. My interconnects are DH Labs silversonic and my speaker wire is synergistic research alpha.

I believe there are several "good" integrated amplifiers one can choose from in the $500-$1000 price range, but I chose the lesser known Myryad because the $650 price (US retail $900-$1000) I got made it easily the best value for product. For this price, I have to give the unit 5 stars.

Great sounding and buildet amplifier. If you are interested in Myryad products from the M - serie you have to know that there are 2 different versions of the MI - 120 . I owned myself an old one and have upgraded it from the company. After the upgrade with costs in the UK approx. 140 Pounds you not have a identical version like the new one, that means that for example the mains transformator will not be changed. Difference between old and new the new one is more "airy".
The MC 100 has also been build in two versions ( 1 Bit and 24 Bit DAC).
The MCD 500 is also in two versions ( 20 Bit and 24 Bit DAC) on the market, i ownned a old one and now have the 24 Bit one.

Strength:

Very good dynamics, plenty of reserve.

Weakness:

None for me

I have been through the Stereo cycle quite a few times since I was a teenager some 20 years ago. I have been through Yamaha, Onkyo, Luxman and most recently a series of Naim gear.

I have stopped trying to figure out what sounds best and simply focused on what brings me back to listening to the music.

Out of everything I have listened to over the years I have found the most pleasure out of my current Myryad system. The Myryad MI-120 sounded the most musically consistent across a broad range of music during my listening tests. I kept finding my foot tapping everytime we would switch to the Myryad Amp. Aside from finding it musically involving, the style and functions are very spouse friendly.

Very, very happy.

Current system:

Myryad MI-120 Integrated
Myryad MCD-500 CD Player (Excellent)
B&W CDM1SE Speakers
Transparent Musiclink Plus Interconnect
Transparent Musicwave Plus Bi-Cables
