Strength:

price, quality

Weakness:

none for its price

Hmmm, it seems my previous review got removed. Did i do something wrong? Anyway, I came here to do a favor for this product today. As I experiece more with other overpriced gear, it turned out that I was too critical about this product. I rated 4/4, or even 3/3, I guess. Now, I changed my mind. I rate 5/4. As for price, NAD 310 is a killer. As for sound quality, it is more than average. The only product I can say really matched its price/performance was Alesis RA 100. But RA 100 isn't as versatile as 310, so 310 can be still more valuable.

Hey guys at www.audioreview.com, are you gonna remove my review again?

Weakness:

Died after five years

I just thought I'd post a note to say that my NAD310 has died
after about five years of not-very-demanding service. I was
hoping for better - these things should last forever,
shouldn't they?

Bought this unit on an extremely tight budget and am very happy with it.It's a budget low power integrated amp that seems to reproduce extremely well the Jazz and Classical music I am listening too. When listening to small combos or string quartets, the sound of this unit is simply amazing for its price range. I wouldn't recommend it if your mainly listening to heavy metal or Wagner, but for most of my use, its power is perfectly adequate. It was obviously designed with college students and other audiophiles on a low budget as it has a minijack input at the front allowing a discman or walkman to be used as a source.

Other than a horrible turn-on thump, this seems like a nice little amp. Not as nice as the 3240 I had for years, but better than I had expected at the price.

I have been using this amp in my bedroom system (Rotel RCD-965BX+Trichord-II, a pair of modified Celestion 3 II and AudioQuest's Indigo-2/Emerald x3)for over a year. Frankly, I don't think one could find a better integrated unit than this one at even a higher price point. The power-on 'thump' is the only glitch, but it makes up for that by sheer almost valve-like quality of sound, and believe me, it can sound a lot louder than its rated 20 watts/ch suggests. No need to go any further if you are looking for a modest powered personal unit and have a pair of speakers with high sensitivity (89dB and above).
PS. I think that the posted price of $125 could be wrong, more towards the $200 mark would be right.

Just brought this for casual listening in my Bedroom with my Celestion 7replacing my broken Harman Kardon PM640Vxi (It worked for me for 10 years!).

Well, the power-on hum scared me! Will it hurt the speakers? <---Someone help??

It does not have phone out, phono input and 2nd speaker input and rate only 25W!

I really a bit unhappy when I first turn it on and read the manual, BUT, It sounds quite good! Clear, good dynamic range. Afterall its a nice piece of small amp at this price. ( ~190USD only!)

Strength:

Low noise, smooth sound, cool operation

Weakness:

Under powered, no remote, no pre-amp out

Good clean sound, but simply underpowered for serious listening. Nad raves about it's high peak current capability but 20 watts is still only 20 watts. Simple faceplate and no bells & whistles; your money pays for solid design. But this same lack of features combined with the weak power puts this amp in a hard to define role. Not strong enough for your main system, not enough features (or tuner) for a teenager/young adult. At $350 Canadian, not sure what market this amp is intended for.

It is very solidly built though. Too bad about the power-on thump to the speakers. Have since replaced with a more powererful Rotel. Will keep it for the cottage though.

Strength:

very good performance for such a nice price

Weakness:

must be matched with efficient bookshelf speakers

This little NAD was my first separates amp, and I retain very fond memories of it. The sound it puts out is clear, sweet and nimble. Well-recorded pop and jazz discs sound beautiful through it... And its bass performance, while not super-extended, is very taut and tuneful. I appreciated it a lot.

What the 310 does not have is the extra power and grunt to drive low-efficiency floorstanders, but of course, no one in his right mind would match this NAD with anything other than a good pair of budget bookshelf-speakers. If you're looking for an inexpensive amp to start you off in your love-affair with hi-fi, the NAD 310 is a sure bet. Bravo!

NB: The 310 has now been replaced by the new C300 - a 25-watter with remote control. I would expect the C300 to retain most of the virtues of its predecesor.

Strength:

very economical, detailed smooth and warm sound, low noise

Weakness:

thump when you turn it on

Very interesting amp!!!It's a combination of a MOS-FET and semiconductors and the result is amazing. It sounds similar to a valve amp and it's very strange.
This amp satisfy me with all kind of music.
I think it was underpowered but it's not!
It seems to sound louder than 20W/channel!!!!
Finally I think that nad 310 overcomes a lot of much more expensive amps!

Strength:

economical price, entry-level audiophile 1st experience

Weakness:

thumping sound. no remote, phono, headphones or pre-outs.

excellent value for money, unbeatable at 100pounds, plenty of inputs including 2x3.5mm inputs in the front for discman etc, sounds much more powerful that 20 watts, lacks finesse and detail at higher volumes and not that upgradable, still much better than any domestic products for the same price..
