Strength:

Smooth and detailed without the harsh, bright, or ear fatigue but with the power extension of expensive amps. Very nice vocal extension, dimention, and presents. Large and wide soundstage. Has plenty of power to fill very large rooms. Very impressive sound!!

Weakness:

None that I can hear, except that when turned on, it makes a slight 1 second noise feedback to the speakers, it's very slight and you have to be right next to the speaker to hear it but I prefer it not do that! I speculate it's a checking the unit does to check to see if speakers are connect, if it isn't, the unit will blink the volume light to warn you that it doesn't have any speakers connected to it. I am the only one that can hear it, other family members say they can't hear what I'm talking about.

I wanted to take some time to let the Onkyo A-9555 break-in and get familiar with it and the sound before I made any real comments on it. My final conclusion on the Onkyo A-9555 integrated amps is that I am very impressed! It is not always very often that a product lives up to the manufacturers claims but I have to say I can now see why Onkyo is marketing this product as high-end sound, because it is very much indeed in that leaugue of sound. I'm very amazed with what the Onkyo A-9555 can do! I own a lot of speakers and equipment to test it against and all I can say is that I'm very impressed. I will be keeping both Onkyo A-9555! I was very skeptical at first because I've had plenty of products that I've had that didn't live up to my expectations but the Onkyo A-9555 really proved itself!

The Onkyo A-9555 has an output extension that I only find in some of my most expensive equipment, it easily can put volumes of sound in a large room with superb sound. It's dynamic, transparent, excellent resolution, smooth, no harshness, no hear fatigue, fast transients, very clean soudning to the last detail, very detailed, very clean tight accurate bass, not the cheap boomy bass! The bass reveals resolution to it because of it's clean and tight accurateness. It has great vocal presents and extension, and a large wide sound stage. It has a forward musical presentation that really can fill a large room.

I tried the Onkyo with several different speakers that I have. I tried it with a pair of Klipschorn's, Klipsch RF-7, Klipsch KLF-20, and Klipsch RF-3. It sounded very good with all Klipsch speakers, no brightness, and very smooth, no hear fatigue. It goes very well with Klipsch speakers.

I have a pair of B&W N800 and for fun I wanted to see how it did. To my amazement it does very well and was able to put it's woofers well under control and had no problems! Not easy to do for these speakers! It sounded very impressive with authority and gives plenty of volume with plenty more to go.

I have a $2500.00 analog amp and the Onkyo A-9555 sounds as good as it but the Onkyo A-9555 has the edge on being slightly more detailed and very clean and easy to make out.

I have another analog setup that cost about $8500.00 between the amp and pre-amp and I'm amazed how close the Onkyo A-9555 comes to it! It meets it in almost all areas with the only difference being that on this setup, The Onkyo is less rounded airy-dimensional sounding compared to it.

I also have a Panasonic SA-XR70 digital amp and the Onkyo A-9555 by far sounds much better where the Panasonic falls short. The Panasonic doesn't have the hi-end sound of the Onkyo, nor the power and extension of the Onkyo. The Onkyo doesn't have the volume limitation of the Panasonic.

The Onkyo A-9555 comes with a remote, controls the volume smoothly, comes with detachable cord. It says "Made in Japan". It weighs almost 29 pounds, nice and hefty. Is clean and neat inside, has a very large transformer in it, much larger than the picture looks/shows that I saw over the internet.

It would be very hard to get an analog amp of this Sound Quality without spending much more. I'm still amazed with the sound quality!!! Onkyo did a very good job and giving high-end sound at a very affordable price due to it's digital design to achieve this.

The word needs to get out about this affordable jewel! I would recommend it to anyone that wants the benefits of digital techonlogy and high-end sound at an affordable price. It will get you where you want to be without breaking your savings! High-End sound without the High-End price!
