It is a good home amplifier,im enjoying listening it with Marantz cd 52,connected with pair of interconnect "kimber kc-ag" and speaker cables van den hull " wind". Be sure that if you are not too sophisticated and not looking for a pure sound this is a real good buy for home listeners. |

I was originally in the market for a cheap reciever for a gift and stumbled across one of these on clearance half off at $125. I think this was Pioneer's attempt to ween some of the "receiver buying" people onto something a little better; I had remembered seeing it on the shelves of Best Buy and other type stores. Its a nice little 40 wpc unit; fairly heavy and interesting honey-comb shaped heatsinks. My only real complaint is the binding posts are cheap and have collars that prevent spades from being used. For the money one of the NAD integrates might sound more musical at the sacrifice of some power and flexibility. |

Strength:
Value, durability, intelligent circuit design
Weakness:
NONE! This is a good-sounding small amplifier. Its not aimed at pleasing the audiophile, but with high-quality and efficient speakers (JBL), its a real winner. I use it to power two surround speakers (JBL G-Series) in my home theater setup--my guests always comment on the excellent sound from those units. I appreciate the company's focus on simple design, including only what is necessary to deliver good sound, while keeping the price at an affordable level.
