Strength:

Clear treble, very deep bass and detailed midrange.

Weakness:

Not excessivly powerful. A slight "humming" sound from the powersupply.

I bought this to replace my Denon ARV-1100 receiver, which had what i can only call horrible sound quality, but which had been purchased when i was on a tight budget (and for some reason though surround would be cool).
After listening to my friends Rotel poweramp/preamp combo, i knew i had to replace my receiver with something that sounded a bit more "hi-fi", and since i'm not a rich guy, my choise was the new Sony TA-FB940R.
The sound was immediatly improved, actually it was a whole new kind of sound.
The bass was tight deep and with a nice punch, compared to the slow and sometimes overempasised "surround bass".
Also it was more detailed, with better midrange and more clear and open treble.
I was supprised that the difference was that stunning from an amplifier on the budget level.

My system:
Yamaha CDX-390 CD player
Sony TA-FB940R Integrated amplifier
Technics SL-1510 LP player
North/Koda AK-48 Loudspeakers
MITerminator 6 Signal cables (interconnects)
MITerminator 6 Speaker cables

Similar Products Used:

Denon AVR-1100, Denon AVR-1800, Rotel RB-991 and other Sony integrated amps.

Strength:

Everything

Weakness:

Nothing

I work in a Hi-Fi shop and this is by far the best amplifier I have come across at this price. So good in fact I own one. OK it won't be able to drive any speakers really much larger than a pair of B&W Dm603S2's but what it can drive it drives well
