bought this amplifier based on it's favourable review in What Hifi? to replace my ageing Denon PMA 720 a 90 wpc monster of an amp which has served me well for nearly thirty years until it finally gave up the fight for life a couple of months ago. First impressions of the Yamaha were that the controls were a bit fiddly to start with but with use this has become second nature and to be honest when listening to CD or MM phono sources I set the input to source direct and bypass the tone section altogether. They drive my Gale Gold Monitor Mk.2's effortlessly and with good depth and imaging. Overall, very impressed so far.
